The 2012 Enigma: Free Full-Length Documentary Film!

“2012 Enigma” was shot and edited in real time at the Conscious Life Expo, and then underwent extensive post-production by David, with help from Larry Seyer and the excellent cartoonist G.T. Bradford, who provided us with a humorous caricature of David for the title sequence.

This 95-minute video features brand new material about the pineal gland, time-space, 2012 and Montauk that we’ve never presented anywhere else before. We deliberately focused in on the material your letters said you liked the most!

Giving this material such a big splash for a public debut, in a video with this level of production value, insures our protection — and that’s a major reason why we’re giving it away for free!

Nothing could have prepared us for the enormous impact that David created at both the Conscious Life Expo and the International UFO Congress, respectively… so let’s find out what happened! Oh… and today is David’s 35th birthday as well! Happy Birthday, dear friend!

THE CONSCIOUS LIFE EXPO

First of all, the Conscious Life Expo’s guest list is a veritable who’s who of public figures in self-help, metaphysics, spirituality and holistic health… including Dan Millman, Raymond Moody, John Grey, Dannion Brinkley, George Noory, Richard C. Hoagland, Sean David Morton, Linda Moulton-Howe, et cetera.

Despite this soaring lineup of talent, we were informed — independently by at least three different Conscious Life Expo staff, including the director himself — that we outsold, by a substantial margin, every other speaker they invited except Lisa Williams, who is a trance medium with a hit show on the Lifetime network.

Obviously, the enormous line that stretched out in front of our Sunday workshop, bending through two halls of the huge LAX Hilton Hotel, attracted a lot of attention.

A variety of big-time conference producers were checking out the Conscious Life Expo, since they all like to attend each other’s events. The “Wilcock buzz” was the hot talk of the town. [Billy Blake, our CONVERGENCE producer, wished we had photographed and filmed the huge line for documentation, but we were just trying to focus on getting everyone in.]

As for Lisa Williams, the only one to outsell us thanks to mainstream television exposure, her line literally stretched out into the street at the LAX Hilton hotel, which is just about a quarter-mile from the conference room. She traveled under heavy guard, with four bodyguards flanking her at all times in North-South-East-West position. No one was able to walk up and speak to her for even a split second — and those who were chosen to ask questions from the audience were still some distance away.

David, on the other hand, was the only speaker who had five different events at the Expo — a workshop, a post-conference and three panels — and traveled by himself to each one, as did the others. We certainly did not have time to stop and talk with everyone, as this gets into the “Santa Claus Paradox” issue — a real human being cannot make that number of house-calls in one night!

CRUSHING DEMAND

The Expo had not properly prepared for the level of demand we were going to have, particularly for the first of our two workshops, which took place on Sunday. Only one staff person was working the door, and it literally took over an hour to simply get everyone into the room, which was much too small!

David arrived a half-hour in advance and there was already a crowd growing, but the crowd was not fully seated until 40 minutes after we were supposed to have started!

During this final 40 minutes of audience influx, everyone was ordered to move their chairs four different times in order to fully fit all the people into the room! David went and warmly shook hands with everyone who was still standing in line, as it was definitely not clear whether they would all make it in or not. Somehow we did manage to squeeze ’em all in!

Additional upset was introduced by the fact that this 40 minutes was not given back to the people at the end — not even a portion of it. Even with a room full of customers who paid for a 90-minute presentation, we were forced to quit slightly less than an hour after we started — so the next event, which had much smaller attendance, could start on time.

Yet, what we were able to cram into those 55-odd minutes was so extraordinary that everyone was left in a daze. Even after being removed from the room by staff for the next event, witnesses reported that the crowd continued to mingle in the hallway for another two hours just discussing the implications of what they learned.

On a similarly disappointing note, the video footage was completely ruined by a microphone that was running much too hot the entire time, causing horrible, inexcusable distortion through the entire presentation. The parts that you can hear sound like David is talking through a kazoo, and any time his voice went a little higher in volume the signal cut out entirely.

Unfortunately, there is no studio trick or special gimmick to solve this nasty problem — we certainly did our research and it’s just not possible. If you were at this event and captured a decent audio recording of it, let us know, as you may just create life after death.

Both of these issues could have been prevented with a little more preparation, and it’s simply a function of the number of different events at the Expo and the semi-chaotic state that always seems to reign in such situations. We did receive an apology and next year will certainly be different. Our release of this video footage from the next day is partly an offering of reconciliation to those who did attend this event, filling in many of the cracks they missed due to the rush.

As soon as this workshop ended, David had to rush down to the Conscious Filmmaking panel, and then turn around and do the “channeling” 2012 panel, hosted by Sean David Morton, less than an hour afterwards. In between these two events we were filmed for a television show, but do not have more information about it at this time… everything was moving too fast.

MONDAY WAS MUCH BETTER

On Monday the whole game changed. The conference was effectively over, the vendors cleared out and the hotel breathing a big sigh of relief, and yet we still managed to nicely fill up a room that was easily five times bigger than the one we held under siege the day before. We were able to start within 10 minutes of our opening time, and were given a full two extra hours of overflow time in a separate room after our event scheduled to end at 4PM. This was when David ended up doing a group reading that will surely be of great interest and benefit once we edit it together. At this point we only have access to one of two camera angles that were shot, from Divine Cosmos’ own unit — and hope to obtain the other angle soon.

David broke up his three-hour lecture in the main room into two equal parts. Unfortunately, in the process of turning off the tie-clip microphone and turning it back on again when he returned after the break, the “kazoo effect” again destroyed the audio — but the first half made it out unscathed and clean.

Furthermore, at one point in the second half, the radio signals actually crossed over from an adjacent lecture. Both were audible at the same time — but only on the recording audio, not in the room itself! It went undetected for several minutes in the source footage.

Admittedly, the usable first half of the video had serious problems as well. There was one point when the camera was left filming a blank, empty wall for over 45 seconds after David had walked out of frame. (We cut that section from the final version, and thus missed a brief recap of material you can find in the Project Camelot video.)

That being said, there are hardly any close-ups of David to speak of — every shot is at least down to the waist, if not down to the feet. This strips the video of much of the intimacy that is felt in the Project Camelot footage, which is almost entirely shot at the “extreme close-up” range.

Worst of all, the sheer length of time that the camera spent planted on single slides, without ever cutting back to David — sometimes well over 60 seconds straight — seriously reduced the quality of the product. You will probably notice this yourself as you watch the video, but we did take steps to improve it nonetheless.

Billy Blake, our co-producer, was supposed to have been there to shoot a roving handheld camera for close-ups to add much more variety and excitement — but he too was struck down by negative greeting, far too sick in the aftermath of a tropical “vacation” to even make it out of bed.

So, you can understand our frustration, because we wanted to document this amazing event — a true turning point in our public exposure — but there is only so far we can go with the source material that is available.

Thankfully, we captured the first 50 minutes of audience reaction footage on a separate camera, and this was one way we were able to reduce the fatigue factor on these endless static shots of our slides.

The other saving throw, as it turned out, was to completely rebuild every slide in post-production video-editing software, and animate movement tracks over the images themselves to create energy and flow.

Even so, we apologize in advance for the fact that much of this video could not be healed or altered in any substantive way. We do not blame the staff, as they seemed to be relatively new to what they were doing and visibly were experiencing multiple negative greetings as the talk went on that required their attention. If you’ve followed our work for very long, you know how powerful these negative greetings can be.

Most of the time it looked like they were putting out brush fires and scrambling to focus on the actual editing and shooting. This is why you will notice David say out loud that he was going to start walking before he did so.

Despite these problems, we built up an elaborate and gorgeous title sequence for the video, complete with animation, lighting effects and music perfectly timed to the sequence. The first 45-50 minutes of the video in particular is loaded with slides and cutaways, including many new images that were not in the talk itself but vastly enhance the effect.

So, you still end up getting a product with greater production value than what you would normally expect to see from conference footage. Nonetheless, it should go without saying that CONVERGENCE is a dramatic feature film, not a series of clips of David speaking, and will adhere to top-quality Hollywood standards at every step of the process.

HOW WE ENDED THE VIDEO

Since the second half of the video was ruined, and the first half ended without any summary statement, we found an ending for “2012 Enigma” by adding in footage of David’s initial speech at the 2012 “channeling” panel, hosted by Sean David Morton, which was filmed the night before.

This clip begins with a fun-loving surfer-dude showdown between David and Sean, in keeping with the humorously confrontational energy that Dannion Brinkley had already created in George Noory’s 2012 panel the day before, where he was constantly working to police Sean from dominating the talk-time. Morton and Hoagland still did most of the talking, leaving precious little remaining for George Noory, William Henry, Dannion and David.

Though David kept his initial speech short at the second 2012 panel, he still managed to hit it out of the park and generate a great deal of excitement that shifted the whole energy from then on… and it forms an excellent ending that wraps up the video and keeps it to a comfortable 95-minute length.

If we do release the rest of this “channeling panel” footage, we will probably edit it down to capture Sean’s opening introductions, Dannion’s initial talk, David’s initial talk and then let the extended discussion / audience interaction portion play out thereafter, as three of the panel members were very new to public speaking and each of them later reiterated their points in a more effective fashion once they hit their stride.

Augh… if you can wait for it, let’s discuss the UFO Congress event that came just two weeks later before we roll the video footage… as the magic continued!

THE INTERNATIONAL UFO CONGRESS

Compared to the Conscious Life Expo, the International UFO Congress event went far more smoothly. Of course, you have the intrinsic difficulties of it occurring in a 36-dollar-a-night casino hotel greased thick with cigarette smoke, where anyone below 45 was a true anomaly… but that’s part of the strange ambience of this event. The location is chosen, to a large degree, to be near Area 51 and Roswell.

Not only did we start right on time and pack the enormous room with nearly every person in attendance for the entire nine-day event, we were actually given a full half-hour extension!

No one — not even the director and organizers themselves — wanted David to stop! We were informed by two different sources that even the bustling vendor areas emptied out into ghost towns as word quickly spread around that David’s talk was much too hot to miss.

The strongest proof of our impact occurred at the end, as David had just enough time to get to the punch line without any elaborate buildup or drama to try to stoke up the energy for applause… but nonetheless the audience roared into a full, sustained standing ovation. Every person shot to their feet in disbelief, and it continued on for at least half a minute.

This unprecedented audience response was unlike anything that had occurred at any other event in the entire conference. Several people told us that the word “Wilcock” could be heard like an echoing chorus as you walked through the halls on the Expo floor from there on, and we unexpectedly created the peak moment of the entire event.

Bob Brown, the presenter, emerged in an utterly ecstatic condition, and immediately wanted to book us as a yearly regular for the event… and we agreed. We were also given very kind compliments and invitations we unfortunately did not have time to accept by our colleagues Larry Hunter, JJ Hurtak, Rob Simone, Bob Dean and legendary ESP researcher Russell Targ.

YOU CAN’T PLEASE ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME…

Of course, in the aftermath of this talk we were in a true predicament. We did offer a meet-and-greet at the speaker table after the event, and it was a crush, so not everyone did it even though we remained out there for the better part of 45 minutes before breaking for a dinner appointment.

There were roughly 700 people in the audience and almost all of them wanted to get David alone to talk, ask questions and show gratitude. At one point we made a hasty trip from the second floor to our room on the sixth floor, and just in those 60 seconds or so, six different groups of people tried to corner us into conversation.

As any public figure will tell you, the notion that you will enjoy such attention is quickly shattered by the reality of how quickly it drains you. We’ve had to learn that our main responsibility at these events is in offering the best lecture material we possibly can, and then offering a secondary, longer-lasting event for those who wish to have a closer, more personal contact.

While we will probably never travel with a posse of multiple bodyguards for support, sheer physical survival necessitates that David not be anywhere near as freely open and available as he was in the past. The ‘ritual’ was that he would get very sick for at least a week after each conference. This was what ultimately led to us canceling all public events for the entirety of 2006 and 2007.

We’ve decided it’s better to have good boundaries, and preserve our energy for the time in front of the audience, than go into codependent people-pleasing mode, try to give everyone personal time, and end up nearly dead from the energy loss when we return home, quickly deciding to abandon the whole concept.

Since birthday celebrations are underway, we do not have the time to post a detailed summary of our upcoming conference dates and locations just yet. David WILL be appearing with Dan Burisch at CalTech on Monday, in the Beckman Institute Auditorium at 3:45 pm, but will only actually speak for, we are told, 60 seconds… so we are going more to provide moral support and encouragement.
