the explosion that shattered solar theory

in january 2005, some remarkable things happened on the sun, and the
implications are still reverberating through the scientific community. between
january 15th and 19th four powerful solar flares erupted from ?sunspot 720?,
shown in the picture above. then on january 20 the fifth explosion produced a
coronal mass ejection (cme) that achieved velocities incomparably greater than
anything astronomers had seen before. while it often takes more than 24 hours
for the charged particles of a solar outburst to reach the earth, this one was a
profound exception. just thirty minutes after the explosion, earth (some 96
million miles from the sun) was immersed in what nasa scientists called ?the
most intense proton storm in decades?. proton storms get their name from the
?rain? of positively charged particles when a mass ejection reaches the earth.

    damon: *bump*

i had introduced this site to this group a few weeks ago, but this
post by david--and the fact that there have been no replies to it--has
made me want to bump this site link back to the top and to be sure to
strongly encourage everyone here to check this site out. they post
(week) daily pictures of the day, which each illustrate how current
astronomical observations fit perfectly well within the "electric
universe" paradigm (that the universe is essentially one big
electrical circuit)--and, in fact, are predicted by it--but
seem "anomalous" or "mysterious" or produced by mechanisms that
are "not fully understood" by orthodox astronomers and
astrophysicists. as the site authors point out, this failure of the
current ("big bang") cosmological theory to predict things such as
the "unexpected" flash that occured about 3.7 seconds before the
recent deep impact event on comet tempel 1, as well as
the "surprising" energy of the impact, point to the fact that the
    model needs to be...well, remodeled.

i have come to believe that what we call "ether" here in this group is
what the electric universe proponents call "plasma." the plasma
currents are even observed to move in the familiar (to us) spiraling
patterns (birkeland currents) that dominate all natural systems.
further, these plasma effects scale to all sizes, from subatomic to
galactic. i have also come to the belief that "plasma cosmology" will
be the vehicle through which "mainstream" science comes around to the
hyperdimensional nature of space and everything else. at some point,
the unambiguous electrical nature of space will be realized; this will
mark the beginning of a flood of new research and discovery.

once we are able to turn that theoretical corner and realize that
electricity (not gravity or other mechanical forces) dominate space
and planetology, the whole world of hyperdimensionality will open up
to us. the rilles, craters, and surface scarring on the faces of
planets such as mars, venus, and even titan will be seen for what they
truly are, electric arc etching caused by their expulsion "births"
from within one of the gas giants or by close encounters with other
bodies within the solar system as the system sought a new equilibrium.
instead of that, now scientists try to shoe-horn current space-age
observations into a 200-year-old theory by creating ad hoc conditions
    and mechanisms.

again, i exhort everyone here to explore this site and its related
links and to really start to think about how what they are saying
there is connected to the science that is discussed here.

    namaste,
    damon

damon, your post is very interesting. i have been studying this
for some days now. your help and edification is greatly appreciated.
my appreciation is especially for directing me to sources of new
information. really, i had no idea of all the implications! your
    assistance is appreciated.
    thanks,
    ibear

most intense proton storm in decades?. proton storms get their name from the
?rain? of positively charged particles when a mass ejection reaches the earth.

one reason proton storms get attention is that they interfere with satellite
communications and can even penetrate the skin of space suits and make
astronauts sick. but for the proponents of popular theories about the sun, this
?storm? was far more than an irritant. according to a nasa news release, the
event ?has shaken the foundations of space weather theory?.

prior to this event, how did astronomers explain proton storms? nasa?s
?headline news? story tells us that the mass ejection ?begins with an explosion,
usually above a sunspot. sunspots are places where strong magnetic fields poke
through the surface of the sun. for reasons no one completely understands, these
fields can become unstable and explode, unleashing as much energy as 10 billion
    hydrogen bombs?.
