    Default Good news

i was thinking that we need a thread that highlights good news. happy endings, feel good stories, people helping people etc.

here are two stories to start it off:

beijing - two red panda cubs abandoned by their mother at birth are thriving at a northern china zoo thanks to milk and loving care from an unlikely surrogate mother - a dog, state media reported on thursday.

    and here's the other:

this large scale mandala depicts the names of one million organizations around the world that are devoted to peace, environmental stewardship, social justice, and the preservation of diverse and indigenous culture.

just some more good news to share:

juanes, who organized his "peace without borders" concert in conjunction with the cuban government, sang "it's time to change" in a song and told the audience "the important thing is to swap hate for love."

what a great thread! this morning whilst driving into work i stopped at a zebra crossing where a schoolboy, who couldnt have been no older than 12/13, went completely out of his way to help a random mother with her baby in a pram up a series of steps. i know this is only something small but it is these little differences that reflect to me that there are people out there who just want to help others and do what they can when they see someone struggling because they know it is the right thing to do. this in turn fills me and anybody else who witnessed it with boundless love and positivity for our future. thank you for your time in reading this, love to you all - angelboy

    Default I love this thread

    hi all,

i have a bit of good news although it is on a personal level.

a few months ago, i had a conversation with my neighbour of 7 years about what is really going on, on this planet. we have always had a great relationship over the years and i tried to explain to her at the time what "this" is all about.

to cut a long story short she stopped talking to us and has had nothing to do with me and my partner for 3 months. 3 months does not sound too long but in reality it is a long time because she was a good friend for years and when she stopped contact with us, it was very obvious she was uncomfortable with what i told her.

anyway, tonight, 30.9.09, carol (my neighbour) actually came around for the first time in 3 months and made her peace. she said she was sorrry for the fact she had had nothing to do with us and admitted that she disagreed with what i had said back then.

the reality of the situation is the fact that we can get back on track to where our friendship left off.

a small step but nevertheless a posivitve one.

    thats my good news

    love and light,

    matt

    Smile Good news story

this was from last week and in my opinion a worthy "good news" story.
how many of you heard about this story of the lady who prevented a man from robbing her thru the power of prayer.

store clerk angela montez believes it was divine intervention that led a would-be robber to give up his heist and talk and pray with her for nearly 40 minutes monday before turning himself in to indianapolis police hours later.
"i believe the lord sent us both together," montez told "good morning america" today. "the more we talked, he just broke down. ... he said, 'talk to me. no one will talk to me. i have nobody.'"
surveillance cameras recorded video of an armed man, alleged to be the suspect, 23-year-old gregory l. smith of indianapolis, jumping over the counter at a check cashing store where montez worked and pointing a gun at her monday. montez, fearing for her life, broke down, crying and praying.
"i can't even explain the feeling of a gun," she said. "i remember looking at the silver gun, and the finger was on the trigger. i thought, 'this is it.'"
but after seeing how much he was scaring her, montez said, smith apologized and tried to explain himself.
"i told him, 'don't do this. you're young. don't do this to jeopardize your life,'" she said, echoing the report she gave to a 911 dispatcher after the alleged robbery. "he started crying, 'but we're going to be homeless. i haven't had a job in months. i've tried everything.'"
smith told montez, 43, he was an ex-serviceman and had a young baby. he said he didn't know where his mother was at the time and had never known his father.
at one point, smith reached for the gun again, which scared montez into praying for her own forgiveness before what she thought was her death, but smith took out the only bullet in the gun and gave it to her, montez said.
"just take it and talk to me," smith said, according to montez.
the unlikely pair talked for nearly 40 minutes without being interrupted by anyone else entering the store or any phone calls -- a sign, montez said, that god wanted them to talk.
"i felt a warmness, even though there was a scare," she said. "there are so many places around us. no one had come to the door. no one called. i can't believe it was that long, when i was told how long we talked."

not only does this show the power of prayer it shows that you never know someone's background and motivation for what they are doing. this woman reached out to him and connected with him on a spiritual level without judgeing him. now i know the man will still be held accountable for his actions but hopefully all have learned a great lesson from this.
we have to reach out to each other and trust the higher powers.

    Default Goodness is everywhere

    what a great thread indeed!

i do believe that goodness is literally all around us and inside us, although judging by the news it's hard to remember that.
"this is it" is out - that's definitely good news.
global greed is dying out - that's another pretty big goodness.

that's true matt, and i'd imagine your situation with the furniture shop just reminds you that corporate greed has not yet gone from this world. but i think we're seeing that it's now harder to keep things under wraps, in terms of people exploiting others for their own greed. look at what's happened with the bankers' bonuses in the uk. they have been doing it for years, taking money from the taxpayer, but now it's finally out in the open. they can no longer just take money in the way they used to. people have realised that the system we have in the west has to change.

i just think that if we do get disclosure in the near future it could change everything for the better. with new technology we would probably gain access to, many of the global corporations will have no reason to exist anymore
