    Lightbulb food galore

Quick question, one of the points that I know David hit on, was food combination, because certain foods break down differently.

For the last 3 weeks I have been using my Vitamixer to blend up two times a day apples, blueberries, celery, carrots, banana, spinach, ginger, strawberries, broccoli and tomatoes, which ends up being roughly 36-38oz (x2). I also add on occasion bell peppers and cucumbers (90% Organic). During the day, I usually eat nuts and some grains. I don’t eat a lot of meat. If I do, it’s usually chicken. I take a multi-vitamin as well as cellfood which has enzymes, minerals, oxygen, etc. I also take 3,6 and 9’s. I don’t take a green super food.

So my question is because I blend the fruit with the vegetables into a much more easily digestible form, do I need to be as concerned about mixing fruit and vegetables with each other as I would if they were in their whole form given that fruit digests in 30 minutes while vegetables take longer.

Also any thoughts on my diet would be appreciated it as well.

    Thank you everyone in advance!
Dear Masked one! Welcome to divinecosmosfood and health...etc.

Concerning your question of food compatibility -- as you are are describing such I don't think it is a big issue because the mix mixes up everything possibly yielding in effect a discreet whole food thing. But let your innards decide...the innards will let you know if they like it...if not, expect gas burbling and such leading to messy bowel protests.

In common with you most of my food goes through a blender; but the menu is quite a bit different.

May I suggest you examine the vital food rating list associated with Dr. Joel Fuhrman...also his food pyramid. You will be surprised in that you are not using the really powerful ones (Kale, Bok Choy, Collards,Chard)

Nutritiondata.com has some helpful tools for checking out food makeup. For instance I have data on my food list for about 30 items.

A bit of gratuitous advice...looks like you can seriously use some protein...May I suggest pea protein powder? Rates higher than meat.
Also I use a couple of raw eggs (from happy hens looked after by Amish)

Now my smoothies with lots of greenery don't taste ..not bad..just lack flavor, Solution..I add some high quality apple cider vinegar along with a squirt of Stevia-glycerite. (I'm drinking my dinner as I type...hmmm...tastes especially good? No wonder!...I added some carob and non-alkalized cocoa powder.

More gratuitous advice...it is very easy to get hooked intellectually with your diet -- even as your health may be skidding downhill...this has happened several times to me when I out-smarted myself. (last time a visiting friend shocked me awake when she looked at me and demanded to know just what the hell had happened to me... Been in the hospital??) Until then I simply didn't see how decrepit I really was. (frowning simile face)

    Good eating!...I mean, drinking...??

You my friend are awesome!! Your advice is not going on deaf ears. So far my "innards" have agreed with me. No messes, no gas My energy level could be a little higher, but that could be partly to do with getting off the coffee (finally). I guess only time will tell, but hopefully I don't "out-smart" myself in the process (I can see how that could easily happen, thanks for the tip).

Dr. Fuhrman's is now a favorite on my internet explorer. I love the pyramid, I'm looking at it right now. It's so funny how a picture can be so enlightening, and your pea powder suggestion... (sarcasm and rolling my eyes at myself) what a novel idea!? Maybe the other part of my energy level problem

I stuffed your entire post into a nice little Microsoft word document titled "Ideas on how to stay healthy."

Thank again, I do appreciate you taking the time to respond. All very good ideas and points. Gracias...

My nutrition style? I keep it simple, and say, I don't eat animals as Melanie already sang.
I eat direct sunlight for 14mins erryday and I think this is the reason I rarely get sick anymore these days. I only got sick once last year and I've been fine so far all this year.

Just read harmony by the prince of wales and it made me wanna quit eating the animals even though they taste so very yummy to me. Now, I think I'll only eat an animal if I know it lived a long and happy life and died in a nice way...

    This is quite false.
Meat/animal food resources contains complete protein, which is each of the 21 essential and non-essential (combined) amino acids.

Plant protein varies from plant to plant, and only 1 contains complete protein: Soy. Luckily, we have figured out the right combination of plants that will give us complete protein, if you do not want to eat soy forever. Beans and Brown rice makes a complete protein. You dont need to eat them in the same meal, but in the same day.

So, you can be perfectly healthy being a vegan, nevermind vegetarian.

I actually have grown to not like red meat that much anymore, and I don't know why. I would rather eat seafood, chicken, or eggs.

Whoops! Billybob gets bent all out of shape when Soy is recommended as a helpful diet aid!
True, it ranks high on the protein scale (tho Chia seed is even higher) but Soy has two serious thumbs down.. (#1) it is over-loaded with unstable Omega 6 fatty acid that pose health problems (Chia is better balanced by a high content of Omega 3 that simply loves the body)

(#2) Soy carries a dangerous load of phytoestrogens (sp) that love to really screw up hormonal balance in both male and females...not recommended!! Soy was not normally considered a food in ancient China and was only used as such during a famine. Its main use was as a rotational crop soil restorer. It took a thousand years or so before it was discovered that fermentation turns it into a useful food source. (As 'Nanno' it is an excellent source of Vitamin K-2... that is, if you can get past the horrible taste challenge!))

My personal diet is close to Vegan. But I do take supplements

Two items are often lacking in veg diets...B-12 and K-2. B-12 in plants can be be a deceptive, biologically useless analogue to the real thing. --bottom line--it don't work!! K-1 in plants don't do the whole job...Pete Peterson in his interview by David recommended fermented Rat Fish liver oil....A possible choice might be high quality Krill oil...Some aged cheeses have K-2 so I use bits of raw, Monterey Jack to zip up my brown rice..

The best B-12 is the superior form called Methylcobalmin.

I want to apologize for this awkwardly written post....my synopses seem to be tripping all over themselves.

    best, Bill AKA billybobbutterball

    BillyBobButterBall,

There is no need to apologize! In fact, I was severely allergic to soy milk as a baby. I would vomit violently when i took formula with soy in it, or soy milk, (if that exists). I thank you for disagreeing with me; I now have answers as to why I was so allergic to soy!

MmMm RatFish Liver Oil MmMm hah! I'm sure it tastes just fine, but sounds even better! Ok, I will remember that one, as it is difficult to not.

I need to eat more vegetables, this is true. B12 and K2 are lacking in vegetables. Noted.

(The text in red is somewhat confusing, but I do not ask you to clarify that statement, I will suffice. :-)
