i love pretty much all fruit and veg the one thing i hate is turnip, pumpkin, fennel or celery but everything else especially greens i love all greens the taste of them is amazing. im actually at a point where i really need to completely overhaul my eating habits which have got really bad. its hard to get back into eating healthy all the time but at one time i just done it, it wasnt really something i thought out i just like stuff thats good for you. i would like to try a raw food diet but i am miles away from that at the moment.

i bought some walnuts! its been years since i had them and i do remember noticing years ago that they looked like little brains but i never noticed the inside of them before which also looks a lot like a brain, it looks as if it has little nerves or blood vessels reaching out from the centre as you would see on a real brain and there also seems to be a little nub in the middle that seems to be roughly where the pineal gland is. i also didnt know that walnuts are supposed to be a superfood, good for depression, iq and insomnia and are rich in omega 3 which is what the brain requires to function properly.

is it just me or does this seem really really obvious and almost like a sign right in front of you screaming at you to notice and question why? i looked around the internet and i cant see a whole lot of research on it although one of the sites i came across searching did mention that it was weird that natural medications for impotence are phallic! really weird eh.

anyhoo back on to the walnuts, does anybody have any information or views on this!?
dear cameron what you are referring to is the "doctrine of signatures". there is a wikipedia article about it (not sure if i am allowed to put the link in there, so i just tell you like that)
you are right, plants give us a hint to what they are good for, by the way they look, smell, etc.
actually i noticed it the other day, too, i was biting off a carrot and looking at the diameter, i realized it looks like an eye! with a pupil in the middle. and you know what they say, carrots are supposed to be good for the eyes, too.

well we imagine on the grounds of what we already know! we tend to see similarities in everything. it aids recognition.

    much love!

i ate raw and vegan for nearly two years, and have only recently had to go back to eating fish due to extreme imbalances in my body chemistry. essentially, i'm just not built to be a vegetarian, no matter how hard i tried or wanted to be. now i eat mostly organic veggies, non-sweet fruits and wild-caught fish. i have a gluten allergy, so i'm extremely limited as to what grains i can consume. even things like millet and quinoa have to be consumed with extreme care. my body also doesn't process sugars well--even natural ones, so no dairy or starchy veggies. everyone seems to think i'm so very limited in my diet, but i eat well, have plenty of energy for life and exercise, and am in great health for the first time in a long time. i've even begun to release the excess weight i've carried for years and have never been able to get rid of.

absul, to answer your question: i did a 21 day juice fast about two years ago prior to undergoing a spiritual initiation. i mainly alternated between a sort of green lemonade (kale, spinach, lettuce, parsley, ginger root, lemon & apple) and a carrot/cucumber combo that was really quite tasty. i'd say do your research and know all you can about the various kinds of fasting. if possible, consult a nutritionist. i'm lucky in that i work with a holistic nutritionist who groks my need to balance food and spirit. towards the end, i had to supplement my juice with a bit of avocado every now and then, and coming off the fast took at least a week or so to gradually get the body used to processing solid food again. good luck. i was challenged by my experience, but the benefits were also quite amazing and beneficial, particularly for my specific purpose.

when i told my mom i was thinking about doing the master cleanse, she told me i would die. (lol) right now my grandmother is living with us so things are kindof stressful, but as soon as she can go back home and i have time off from work i'm going to see how a one day fast will go... and basically test the waters. i would like to do a detox / fast for a week or so, kindof a spiritual / physical flushing out of all negativity / old news.

the hardest part of a fast is the first three days. after that you body gets used to it, and not as many hungry signals get sent to your command center.

a squeeze of lemon in your water will also help. i've heard of people using honey, but that again is approaching a 'juice fast' which really isn't a fast at all.

a healthy person can go like 14 days or more with no food, water is extremely vital, and food more or less dependent on daily stress......

for example, if you are a lumber jack, or crab fisherman, food is very important, if you are like a hammock design consultant, or painter, food is not as important.

    definition of fast:

    fast 2 pronunciation (fst)
    intr.v. fast·ed, fast·ing, fasts
    1. to abstain from food.
    2. to eat very little or abstain from certain foods, especially as a religious discipline.
    n.
    1. the act or practice of abstaining from or eating very little food.
    2. a period of such abstention or self-denial.
ok so if juice fasting is not actually i fast then i would say it definitely could be defined as a "cleanse".

so if juicing cleanses the body... then what is the purpose of water fasting? they both do the same thing. or maybe not??

juice might cleanse the body of solid particles left in the digestive track, yet it still activates many portions of your digestion.
water is a pure cleanser. by this i mean, your body absorbs water without having to break it down and reconstitute it for the use of your cells.
staying strictly on a water during a fast will both clean out your digestion of built up solids, and it will conserve the energy used in the burning of sugars.
