... also, the ocean is always moving. Wouldn't take much to turn wave motion into electricity.

On Youtube, the working models that people attempt to build usually have a terrible power to weight ratio. It's like trying to build a working helicopter with stuff from a McGuiver episode. Early attempts to build a flying machine usually ended with a crash, as the lift to weight ratio was way off. Some attempts to replicate Tesla's inventions failed, likely due to the "good enough" mentality relating to a power to weight ratio. Take DaVinci's gravity wheel and similar devices as an example. In the videos, the weight of objects used to drive the wheels appear quite light compared to the weight of the machines themselves. Likewise, the magnet driven wheels seem to use about 50 pounds of bearings and framework with tiny magnets you might pull off your refrigerator. Like trying to power a bus using a lawnmower engine.
I have yet to build a working model for an idea I have on this, and welcome others to test it out. Rather than weights for a gravity wheel, reverse the whole thing and use floats. Ping pong balls even. All submerged in water, salty water for more bouancy, or even a light oil. The bouancy of those should provide much more force than gravity can on a similarly sized metal weight.
