Many of us have a deep and profound sense of isolation from other human beings. This sense leads to sorrow and sadness. Our society does not help this. The default belief in atheism, and philosophically, existentialism, deeply ingrain such separation into us.
Therefore, in a disorder of basic feelings of separation and being unloved: depression. It is, in fact, one of the more prevalent and persistent mental disorders. This saddens, me, as it seems that it is one that could be so simply and easily curable.
Has anyone ever noticed the incredible power of a few kind words, a smile, a few kind feelings, a hug, or other gestures of love?
It is true, that even ONE act of love can bring somebody out of depression. We love in a loving universe. A single act of love can remind somebody that we live in a deeply loving universe. That person can than spread that love on further. Few people realize how incredible the cascading effect of such simple actions can have on the entire earth.
But one need not be afraid that they are acting in an unloving manner, or attempt to force love through their life. You can simply sit down and feel the deep love the creator has for you, his child, for everyone is a part of him. And this love can flow through you, to where you burst with it; and you needn't consciously try to force it. Such it is with meditation, but meditation is not necessary.
They say that the primary goal of wanders is the above, to act and feel in a loving manner; to everyone else.
The secondary goal being to teach the law of one itself.
The law of one teaches that loving another is loving yourself, for all is one.
There are a great variety of ways to teach this. I believe that biblically, the new testament says that Loving your neighbor as yourself is more important than the ten commandments. For those with a Christian Disposition, this may be pointed out.
To those with eastern influences, one may point out that the Upanishads of the Hinduism take this further. Love your neighbor Because truly your neighbor is yourself
For more casual conversation, or for the secular, one may use the Emerson quote
It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life, that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself - Ralph Waldo Emerson
I realize that many of you experience great pain and sorrow yourself; myself included. The advice remains simple. If one earnestly seeks out unselfish love from another, or from god, and it should not be difficult to find
I would love for others to point out my inaccuracies, or point out their own stories of which I speak. I realized many are confused by the RA material as I was for a long time, and I wish to point out that an intellectual understanding of much of it, is, for the most part, far from important.
