Carl is a wise man.
He has the presence of a great master.
I dreamt I attended his gathering with music.
At the end we sat barefoot in a circle.
Carl sat in the center.
He asked the same simple question to each of us.
After answering, Carl would nod without comment.
Being excused, people would get up, get shoes, and leave.
His question was:
What is your purpose?
I was clear from the start, but was last to answer.
Many people struggled with this.
Carl would say, "it's simply what you do."
There was confusion at the end where people got up early.
Carl stood by the door to intercept them.
I answered and received a very warm and profound hug.
The only shoes left were right-footed and masking-taped.
Whoever needs them can have my shoes, I would go barefoot.
I answered: "to love and promote well-being."
