Mind power stuff on TV

hey ya mind-power folks,


there is some facinating mind-power-related stuff on tv, so i thought that i'd toss this out there in this forum to see if any otherselves have been watching the two shows that i'm about to mention.


the first one is the a&e channel's chris angel "mind freak" show with the now-famous illusionist chris angel who performs numerous stunts and magic acts that make really go "hmmm, how in the f--- did he do that?". i've not done any online research on him, but i thought that i'd ask those of you on this list what you think/know about him and the program before i did any researching.


the other one is a more recently-new one "mind control" with derren brown on the sci fi channel. this one demonstrates facinating incidents of interconnectivity of our minds, as our dw alluded to in his latest articles. i just saw this show for the first time last night and was facinated with it.


i'd comment more on both, but the sun is up and i gotta go outside and give my 'nuts (butternut squash, that is!) some wet lov'n (irrigation).

hi seth,

i have been fascinated by chris angel's so called illusions for a few years and i'm not really sure what to think either. i know that some of what he does is just illusion, trick of the eye and slight of hand but some of the other stuff i've witnessed him do i can't explain. like when he swallows a quarter and you can see it moving underneath his skin down his arm and then he slits his wrist and pulls the bloody quarter out from underneath his skin. now explain that. or when he is seen walking up a wall or floating across two buildings in mid air with no trees or helicoptors above or around him to support any wires. maybee he has some "other" abilities as well as his magical parlor tricks. who knows. but with where we are in this time of human evolution, i wouldn't doubt that he is able to have such powers as ra states more and more will have as we get closer to 2012. keep it posted if you find out anything whether proving or disproving his "magic".

i haven't watched chris angel but i also saw the "mind control" show. i was pretty impressed with the stuff he did with the conductor, getting the orchestra to play a piece just by having him think about what he wanted them to play.

and i got a chuckle when he got people to hand him their stuff. i was wondering if he would get me with that, or if i'd be on to him before i handed him anything.

david blaine does some interesting things, too, but i saw one of those "magic revealed" shows and that kind of took the fun out of watching him. i was trying to figure out the levitation trick he did, and that "revealed" show explained it. would like to know how he does the cards through the window trick, though.

after watching some of chris angel's mind reading demonstrations, and knowing what we know about thoughts creating vibrations in the fabric of space, my wife and i were inspired to experiment a bit. we took turns concentrating on specific numbers while the other one followed chris' method of holding up our index finger and thumb in front of us and concentrating on the space in between. we found that the majority of the time we could pick up the correct number. our results were far more than statistically significant. just using the single digits 0-9 we could get the correct number more than 80% of the time.
