prof. dr. sergey smelyakov has made thorough study of the hunab ku or galactic butterfly symbol. the esoteric concepts that this symbol expresses have strong correspondences with the esoteric teachings of the secret doctrine by madame blavatsky. there’s every reason to assume that the old world and the new world shared the same understanding of basic aspects of cosmogony and cosmology that allows us to suspect that the new and old world were in contact long before the invasion of the spaniards.
in the article we explain that the rare astronomical event known as galactic alignment that was known to the maya, is being expressed by this symbol. dr. smelyakov discovered galactic alignment around 1996 two years prior to john major jenkins first publication on galactic alignment. earlier this year we published a paper about smelyakov’s great celestial conjunction theory (galactic alignment).

dr. sergey v. smelyakov is a professor at two universities in kharkov, ukraine, a member of several academic councils. concurrently, he is isar vice-president for ukraine (the international society for astrological research), member of the “golden fund” of cyclic science of russia, president of the kharkov regional astrological centre. his m.a. degree is in applied mathematics, first ph.d. – in cybernetics, and his doctor's degree – is in numerical methods and mathematical modelling.
