this can be a highly charged topic that i've seen come
up in this forum occasionally. i offer these points
in efforts to help those who are struggling to cope
with it or for you to help others. some cope by strong
censorship in a similar way that women's faces need to
be covered in some countries.

1) this is a market that is fueled by supply and
demand. the benefactors are not the subjects of the
materials, the consumers of the materials, or the
bystanders. the benefactors are the mass media porn
kings who rake millions creating and distributing it.

2) this is a gender polarized topic. most women find
it degrading and men are the main consumers.

3) the violent aspect of it is present in the broken
taboos that it violates. the concept of open nakedness
and public fornication are deviant within most
cultures. these materials make public these displays.

4) most of the subjects endanger themselves physically,
spiritually, and financially. some start off as
ignorant young children in dire circumstances, and
after years of abuse, they are left unwanted with no
real job skills. i would argue that many bear low self
esteem, feel trapped by the profession, and run a high
risk of catching disease; not to mention the strain it
puts on their ability to have close personal relations.

5) many bystanders are repulsed, especially women.
in a society largely driven by "comparisonitis", they
feel a woman who works in this industry degrades all
women. i call the phenomena where you compare
yourself to others then try to live up to some
status quo "comparisonitis." comparisonitis drives
other markets such as cosmetic surgery and beauty
products. in the context of these materials, it
becomes de-humanizing.

6) most of the consumers are men who are titillated
by it, create fantasies from it, and masturbate. in
a repetitive sense, they become a "pavlov dog" that
provide their own reward by this activity. their
pavlovian response may be triggered unconsciously
in certain situations, causing them to behave
dysfunctional around people who trigger this
response. the repetitive nature of this activity also
supports the continued promotion of these materials.

7) if the intent of it is entertainment, then it is
some sort of art with a heavy stigma attached. the
stigma is the associated symbolisms that are breaking
the taboos. nakedness, suggestive positions, certain
body parts etc. distinguish this material.

8) as graphic art, the principles of design apply,
including color theory. the most popular subjects
are photogenic. photogenic people have more
phi pi spiral curve fits.
yes, the "image of god" is present in porn stars.
is this a desecration?
the same mechanisms going into good art are used
to make these materials.
if you can recognize this, porn loses power.

9) the "freedom of speech" right is used along with
these materials to further their distribution. i
regard the use of "freedom of speech" here as a means
to encourage commerce and "service to self". this is
an affliction that is not specific to this material.
"freedom of speech" is a fundamental right. indeed
my sharing these points is also made possible by this
right. if you are a proponent of censorship, then
maybe these points should also be censored, i should
be banned from the group, and you should be living
in a country where women's faces are covered.
