I scan read the link to the case for UFO's that was in David's blog... I'm intrigued by something and wonder if anyone here has some.. insight.

The persons involved in making comments imply that they are "Gypsies" -- and further imply that they are somehow not "human" per se. Tell me, does anyone here know of any other source which would expand on this topic?

Dear Charles,

After reading David's last article and the Varo annotated edition of Jessep's book, I too was curious to see if there were any further details available.

The following web site gives further details including a conversation of Allende titled "Death Bed Statement of Carlos Allende" with most interesting information and claims of his being present during the Navy's invisibility tests.

http://windmill-slayer.tripod.com/aliascarlosallende/id3.html

"The Philadelphia Experiment worked," Carlos said. "That was what frightened the military. They didn't know what Einstein was doing. He used them to accomplish his own research in propulsion. He believed we could travel faster than the speed of light. That's what he was doing, and they didn't even know it."

Allende maintains that in October of 1943, he was in a convoy of ships sailing to Algeria. "They did experiments then. I say they must have done it 144 times. I don't know. At least a thousand men have seen the ship become invisible. They radiated the target ship with electromagnetic beams. It started out as an experiment in degaussing ships so they wouldn't attract mines, and in making ships invisible to radar. But Einstein took it farther than anyone expected. He made the ship invisible to your eyes.

"Einstein was on the test ship the DE168. I was on the U.S.S. Feurseth. We were in a military convoy with many, many ships. I was on the bow. There is a place where you can stand on top of thick covers, about a foot above the deck. That's where I was. The railing was curved. I hooked my left hand under the railing and leaned out as far as I could. The force field was under my nose, you might say, really it was under my chest and neck. It had spread out from the target ship. I reached into it with my right arm. It kicked. Curiosity -- they say. That's why I did it. You might say I was satisfied. I had my question answered -- for the moment.

"The visibility of the force field is what disturbed Einstein and the defense investigators. As the ship became invisible the force field became visible. They couldn't figure it out. That's why Einstein came to me. He saw me put my arm in. He wanted to know what I saw, what I had felt, if I smelled anything, and why I had done it. He sort of gave me an intelligence test -- you might say. Once he realized that I did it out of a deep scientific curiosity, he spent time with me. He gave me a rapid course in the physics of invisibility during the next two and a half weeks

On the left margin of this same site are other interesting tidbits as well including a birth certificate of Carlos Allende, actually Carl Allen.

Finally there is an article by a reporter named Robert Goerman with further claims about Allende, Jessep and the Varo edition with his "suspect conclusion" to the whole matter.

Blessings to you,
Gordon

this may sound inconsequential, but how could the man in that picture only be 61?

Hi, everyone!
While visiting my brother this past weekend, I synchronisticly found myself in front of his collection of books in a room upstairs in his house which I hadn't realized even existed until I noticed a light on in the dormer as I drove past his darkened house the night before.

The light being on was a bit of a mystery in itself so with Steve's encouragement I took a look at the upstairs. We found he owned a dictionery where we looked up a word we'd been puzzled over, then as we focused on his overall collection, Steve pointed out that he had a book entitled, "The Gypsies," by Jan Yoors--copyright 1967, Simon and Schuster--that I might be interested in.
So I brought it home to read.

The author actually ran away to live with the gypsies first when he was twelve. He found himself drawn back and forth between their world and the more sedentary lifestyle of the non-gypsies throughout his life. His was a unique story in that he was adopted as one of their own, yet because he wasn't born into it (and his parents were highly understanding and supportive) he has blessed the rest of us with an amazing authentic insight into the world of the Rom. The introduction caught my attention--and the rest of the book has been a joy to read, as well.

Being it is so old, I'm guessing it's probably out of print. The copy I have is hardcover.

As a means of protecting themselves through many persecutions the gypsies have deliberately cultivated a mysterious, occult-like facade. Basically "keep the outsiders afraid and keep them confused and guessing." Fortune-telling was not practiced within the Rom--it was considered disrespectful. That was saved for non-gypsies. Nor did they practice in-breeding or incest or kidnapping, generally speaking. There were also different "races" within the Rom. The author was with the Lowara, and did cross paths and mingle with the other Rom races in their nomadic movements.

Anyone interested in learning more, I believe you'll find this highly enlightening. I haven't looked for a website on it. Personally, I just found a jewel I hadn't pondered on much before.

Hi everyone ;)

First, I'd like to say "Thanks" to Penny for posting about the Gypsy book she found. The library system in my area doesn't carry this book, but perhaps I'll "chance" upon it as well. I found this post interesting since I have one great-grandmother who was a Gypsy. I think this genetic connection explains some of my life-long feeling of "not quite fitting in", no matter the time, place or circumstance.

Also, I have recently accepted that I am a Wanderer. This realization wasn't very dramatic; in fact, it really just explained thoughts and feelings I've been experiencing since childhood (maybe even a "missing time" experience as a child). Excuse me, folks, if I sound self-important; I'm very new to posting (this is my second post ever, anywhere). I guess one of the reasons I'm posting this is to express my appreciation, in general, for what is shared/discussed here in these forums; and to see if anyone can share some light about Gypsy spirituality in general. Sure, there are probably a gazillion websites, books, etc., but I believe simply asking a person is sometimes the best way to obtain information and/or get started in the right direction.

Thanks to everyone for all their love and sharing.

In the Light,
Doug

Doug--I found there are used copies available for sale on Alibris--many of them are paperback. Jan also wrote what some call a sequel to "The Gypsies" that is his account of World War II. The title is: "Crossing: A Journal of Survival and Resistance in World War II" (Waveland Press, 1988). I haven't read it yet due to just discovering it was out there today (the reviews look impressive), but I recommend reading "The Gypsies" first due to the wonderful foundational information provided. It's a truly beautiful read--one of my favorites--and with your great grandmother having been one, I think you'll find some outlooks that possibly resonate with your own.

I sensed the wanderer aspect in myself, too--and this book really helped me to see it more clearly and to celebrate it. I've had a strong sense of just being an observer of stories throughout my life--my own included.

It looks like it's out of print. I believe my brother picked up the copy he had from our local library sale several years ago, but it also looks like it may have been a bestseller in its day. I would personally call it a classic. I see Jan Yoors was an artist, as well (explains his picturesque/emotionally-authentic style of writing), and his works are displayed in D.C., I believe.

Let me know what synchronicities come your way...as I said, I LOVE stories!

Thanks again, Penny. I may end up checking out that book. I, like most people, know very little about the Romani peoples (Gypsies). I found a website, romani.org, with many interesting articles about their history, lifestyle, etc.

In that site, I found some lines from "Preface to Tzigane Tarot (Tarot of the Roms)" by Tchalai quite moving. For me they contain some of the essence I feel on my path. (Tzigane is another commonly used name for the Romani):

"We are an old people. An ancient people. A people who has no need to prove anything, no aspiration to conquest, no vocation for tragedy. A people who flows blissfully into the mold of new forms from time to time, as long as there is enjoyment in doing so. And then who will flow out of that mold with cohesion, and no one will understand how and why...

...We have learnt a great deal, in a painful act of balance between maintaining and blending in. Between self-respect and survival. Add to this that there remains in our chromosomes the old conviction that, having descended from the stars, we shall go back to the stars."

For what it's worth, I wanted to share these lines.

In the Light,
Doug

Thanks for the tip on the books by Yoors Penny and thanks for the link Doug! I have also found an affinity with the gypsies (and other wanderers). I have been interested in the similarities of these ancient people as well as others who have a connection to the stars all my life! We all know the outcast/seperated feelings at times. Do we not all feel isolated at some point and long to find others like us? Knowing they are "out there" we begin a journey not knowing what to expect and finding the stuff dreams are made of and becoming closer to who we really are (how romantic this journey can be when you think about it!) We yearn for our cosmic home!

One of the reasons I love this forum is because of the diversity and unity at the same time. Of all the stages of my journey, the gypsy is always a part of me. I celebrate that spirit! I enjoy learning and sharing the journeys of others and look forward to sharing and growing.

I believe Yoors wrote several books on this theme and luckily many of them can still be found on the more commercial book selling sites (at least in paperback form). Being a former librarian I can say that if a book is out of print this is the only way to get it (unless of course you are lucky enough to run across one at a used book sale) or you may use an inter-library loan program (if your library has one).

Thank you guys so much for reminding me!

Teresa

Such a beautiful quote. When I happened upon it some time ago, I felt compelled to adopt a name that expresses the core of me. We are all about the virtues of the heart ... coming in ... flowing out.

My mantra.......
Appreciation~Compassion~Forgiveness~Humility~Under standing~Valor

Hi everyone. To Penny, and whomever else may be interested, here is a synchronous book story.

For background, my wife and I reside in SE Georgia, where it is very flat. We both like the mountains and recently were able to get some time off work to get to north Georgia (see Appalachian Mountains) for a long weekend. The night prior to the trip I had a dream. I don't recall any details except that Edgar Cayce showed up, simply watching me for a few moments.

After a few hours of driving, as we approached our destination, I noticed a building off to the right. It was a windowless, one-story wooden building, with fading white paint. By the road was a sign proclaiming "1000's of books inside!" As I took all this in, I blurted to my wife, "I've dreamt of that place!" I simultaneously remembered that a woman figured in the dream.

A couple days later, we returned to said building where I did meet a very sweet elderly lady who sold jewelry. This building was a "flea market" type place. Off to one side there were in fact thousands of books. After chatting with the woman I felt drawn to the opposite side of the building. Amongst old glasses and plates I found a half-dozen or so books. Included among them was "The Edgar Cayce Collection", which I purchased for a modest price.

To a skeptic this story may seem blaise, but to me it was a wonderful confirmation that I am being guided/on the right path. This event was just one part of a very cool set of experiences.

As we got close to home I noticed the car had used almost an entire tank of gas. The tank holds 11.9 gallons and we had traveled about 400 miles. 400/12=33.3333....
I thought about this and said, well, we didnt' run out of gas, so let's assume the car used exactly 11 gallons:
400/11=36.3636....
I found these numbers interesting. Then when we went to get a few groceries we spent $41.14!

Since I've been back to work, I've been noticing clock synchronicities as well. This is something I experienced in elementary school a lot. I thought it was very cool to wear a digital watch; this was in the 70s and early 80s mind you! I remember seeing 1:11, 2:22, etc. all the time, not to mention several instances of watching the seconds go by so that they corresponded to the hour and minute - example: 3:33:33. In recent years I've been guided not to wear watches (post-military adjustment!); in fact, the last watch I wore actually fell off while I was wearing it (without my noticing) and was then run over by the car as I left for work!

Anyway, it's all good stuff!

Peace,
Doug

Thanks, Doug, for sharing your experiences of your trip--they had me grinning! I LOVE hearing people's stories and it's beautiful to hear about the discovery of the little gems all around us that we begin to recognize once we think to start watching for them.

So cool that you had a meeting with Edgar Cayce in a "dreamstate" and then came across those books and that little flea market.

You made my day--(still grinning)

This posting reminds me of an incident I had while in college around the time I was having alote of greetings and synchonocities. I had met my friends at a bar. Most of my friends had already sat down and we began to talk. I sat their taking it in and noticed a few people I did not know. I started small talk and such and got into a conversation with a woman wearing a blue dress which was fairly odd being winter/fall in Nebraska. We got to talking and she siad she had lived with gypsies in the high mountains. I cant remember all of our conversation but I believe it got into some esoteric subjects. Then about the time My hopes were getting up that I had met a cool woman she got up and excused herself. I chased after her and she told me she was leaving and I left it at that. I got back to the table and asked everyone who she was and they all replied that they had no idea she had just sat down and no one really knew why. A blue dress probably symbolizes communication. I dont know I could just be reading things to far but it seemeed a little odd and a liitle to well timed in my life. But, on the other hand I dont understand what she was trying to communicate as she seemed fairly driven to not become attached to me in any way and left rather hastely. Any way it was pretty wierd just thought I would share since it seems to be a subject of mystery.

Where exactly is this in David's blog, what is the title? I'd like to read this as I'm very intrigued...have researched and personally experienced much concerning the Roma people.
I've always had my own theories about this culture. Among many brilliant books on the subject a very interesting one about Shaminism practiced by the Roma is called [please PM for book name]
