Hey all -

I read about this in another thread. I found it under 2012 Section (2012 Conclusion), but that thread is pretty long and varied in topics. I wanted to breathe life back into this topic for all the newcomers though....

After reading about this I was trying it in the mornings, however the sunrise view is pretty scattered at my house and with gas at $3.20 I'm a little hindered to travel about... Overall the experience was calming, but not what I had been "led to believe".

Anyway, I had the opportunity while at a friends house last evening to give this a go for the sunset and I must say - WOW!!! Once my eyes got adjusted and focused I really felt a sort of "communication" and definitely felt the energy coming through as I stared into the setting sun. (for those new to this idea, it is a specific process when performed at correct times is "safe" - others can provide the links and share their experiences).

Someone awhile back mentioned that they thought the sun was getting brighter - I would agree. To me it seems to have gone from a "yellow" sun to more of a "white" sun...

For those who haven't heard about this I would recommend looking into it. For me, this experience was raw and powerful - needless to say I can't wait to do it again! Now only if I can get to a suitable viewing locale and follow the recommended "procedure"... ;)

I've done it a few times as well, but usually only at sunset. The view from my kitchen window allows this and I usually do it while washing dishes. lol

I've not seen the sun white but more of a violet/purple "aura" that almost looks like a natural gas pilot light and flickers like a small candle flame. This only occurs when I let my vision go unfocused. I also see a small black dot on the sun sometimes. I don't know whether this is Mercury or a sunspot.

I saw a presentation by a fella named Hira Manek here at the Rogue Valley Metaphysical Library in Ashland Oregon. He's done some serious sun-gazing in lieu of FOOD for many monthes at a time. Google him up. As well, to my understanding the molecular structure of hemoglobin and chlorophyl are only one bond different from each other. Seems like not a very far stretch that we could adapt our systems with conscious intent to somehow gain much more from the sun than we do now.

Art,

I will be giving a talk at Mackinac Island on Sungazing. I have been doing it for over 3 years now. I just came in from my evening Sungazing (a.k.a. SGing) session of 55 minutes straight to find your post. I would recommend that for those starting out with SGing to start either within the first 1/2 hour of Sunrise or Sunset and I would recommend that one use HRM protocol (www.solarhealing.com) where you start off with 10 seconds a day and increase by 10 seconds on the next sunny day, and another 10 seconds on the following sunny day. It is important not to overwhelm the eyes because you can shut down the rods and cones if you don't do it properly. Some people are more sensitive to the Sun than others. Some people need to start off with the pre-SGing regimen first where you get used to the Sun with closed eyes facing the Sun for a time.

I would also tell you that the Sun cycles and you will see various colors at different times of the month. :)

Also it is important to ground yourself to mother Earth when you do it.

Nice to see other Sun lovers!

Charran

Ceara,

You would definitely benefit by SGing on bare dirt or sand versus doing it through the kitchen window. The grounding to mother Earth is important and also windows have a special film on them these days that prevents the full rainbow rays of the Sun from coming throught the window and into your eyes. I know how addicting the Sun can be and why you enjoy looking at it even from your kitchen window...but if you think that is good you should try it bare foot with a full view of the Sun while outside! :) :) :)

The black dot could be either Mercury or a Sunspot (but more likely a Sunspot - there are just a very few lately as the Sun is in a Solar minimum timeframe). It can also mean that you are not absorbing the light properly. Hard to tell from your description. I don't know how long you are SGing, but I would recommend that you keep a journal on your SGing practice as well as get a bi-yearly eye exam for a baseline. I do this.

I have been noticing one or two Sunspots with the naked eye lately. They are not as big as others I have seen over the years. You should have see Venus crossing it. I did in June 2004. It was awesome!

When you see the black dots be somewhat cautious as it COULD be a symptom of overloading your eyes. I'm not saying it IS in your case, but I would recommend some caution. Better to be safe, no?

Well I don't do it more than 10-15 seconds anyway a few times a month when it's not cloudy out (which is rare to see a clear sky), and our home was built in 1842 and made of mostly wood. I agree with you and it should be outside on ground. But when it's 0 Celcius outside, that's not the ideal weather to be going out barefoot.

Ceara,

Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omraam_Mikha%C3%ABl_A%C3%AFvanhov), a famous Sungazer told his students to Sungaze from Spring to Fall and to skip Winter unless there were days that were physically condusive to Sungazing.

I skip harsh Winters due to extreme coldness/chance of frostbit, but if the weather breaks then I SG. I prefer to take a vacation, if possible, to a sunny destination during the Winter. It is good for getting the body some good vitamin D and full-spectrum light.

I would also like to bring to your attention the following article which interviews Dr. John Ott, the father of the full-spectrum light bulb.

Pay attention to the part below as he talks about the effect of windows and other filtering devices on humans.

Excerpt (from http://www.motherearthnews.com/DIY/1986-01-01/The-Plowboy-Interview-John-Ott.aspx):

PLOWBOY: Do you feel that there could be a definite link between some chronic diseases and a lack of exposure to natural sunlight?

OTT: Yes; I'm referring here to what I call biological combustion. My studies have indicated that light is a nutrient, similar to all the other nutrients we take in through food, and that we need the fullspectrum range of natural daylight. This is a fact long since proven by science. In 1967, a paper presented by three Russian scientists to the International Committee on Illumination said, "If human skin is not exposed to solar radiation (direct or scattered) for long periods of time, disturbances will occur in the physiological equilibrium of the human system. The result will be functional disorders of the nervous system and a vitamin-D deficiency, a weakening of the body's defenses, and an aggravation of chronic diseases.

That's the condition I now call malillumination, a lack of the necessary amount of sunlight, just as malnutrition is a lack of the proper nutrients in our diets. Malillumination occurs when wavelengths are missing in various types of artificial light or are filtered from natural light passing through window glass, windshields, eyeglasses (particularly tinted contact lenses or sunglasses), smog, and even suntan lotions. Those particular minerals and chemicals in the individual cells of our bodies that would normally be metabolized by the missing wavelengths remain in the equivalent of darkness.

PLOWBOY: In other words, you can't extract the energy from food materials if you don't also get the proper wavelengths to help break them down chemically.

Hope this helps.

love,

Charran

Question to Charran (hi!):

Since you have been doing it for three years, what kinds of changes/benefits have you noticed from the start to now? I have read that the SGing benefits accrue up to 44 minutes of straight SGing, after which the main light downloads will have already been accomplished. Is that correct or misinfo?

As for me I have to walk to a nearby cemetary (of all places!) to catch the early-morning sunrise and I like to gaze at the sun at it starts to peek above the horizon, staring straight at it while it does its three-minute poke-past-the-horizon climb, plus whatever length of time that I can do afterwards (usually a few more minutes). I am sure that I can do 20 straight minutes at each SGing eventually, including the first three minutes of partial sun as it starts its climb past the horizon.

When I look at the sun, I see all sort of prismatic colors and I also see the colorful mandalas, as well as the sacred geometries--all in motion coming right at me. Indescribably beautiful. Well worth the effort. I think that morning sunrise is better than the evening sunrise, but whatever sun you can get, the lowest-possible one to the horizon is best, imo.

I may be a clueless clown when it comes to the actual teachings about the LoO, but I do know a great and helpful outlook when I see It, with 2012 just around the corner.

nice to read a discussion on sun gazing ongoing. i first heard of this thru castaneda. he describes it in detail more than a few times in his work. also gurdgieff mentions it, albeit esoterically, in one of his books. it was enough to get me and one of my friends into trying it. i will say that ive mostly done it at sunset, being blessed to witness these all my life from a small island in s.w. florida, and it is indeed a transcendental experience. my meditations while doing this have been my most intense and beneficial. one thing to note here is that this practice makes me laugh every single time, like i'm being let in on a cosmic joke. it is truly wonderful. (although, i too, recommend discretion)

hey leo, is this the cat from india that nasa has done studies on? the beautiful, very tan man, with the big ol silver sideburns that claims he doesnt eat? i remember an article on him in some metaphysical rag that i read in hood river a few years back. his words were wonderful and id like to get more info on him.

happy sun eating to all!!!

Hyatt,

That cat from India with the long silver sideburns is HRM :) The study that was conducted was by Thomas Jefferson University in PA...which was under contract by NASA to do the study.

Hi Michael

Do you know in which book Gurdjieff talks about sungazing?

I tried sungazing once then I freaked out that I might go blind

Dear lvxseeker,

Fear is the issue for you. I had no fear from day one of my SGing experience. I can SG for 55 minutes straight as of this writing (working on getting past the hour mark). If you are at the Mackinac Island DC Forum retreat in August, I can demonstrate it to you and you can see that I indeed look straight into the Sun and I also that I am not blind!

Namaste,

forgive me right now but any answer would be speculation for my books are not with me now as im very transcient these days. it has also been years since ive read the material. i must say though, you really cant go wrong with any of his material. he was certainly a man coming from his heart. and also certainly he never mentioned it directly as i rememeber, always clouded with typical gurgieff abstraction. sorry for not being a direct help here.
guess its time to brush up on ol george and ill be starting with "beezlebubs tales to his grandson"

note: if you fell any fear at all from this practice i would sugest you listen to yourself for no one knows more than you do!

beatiful day to all

In the forums at http://www.curezone.com, there'is a helpful forum on sungazing that's interesting. They give good advice there and many supposedly have benefited from sungazing. I must warn anyone who wants to try it that he/she should be careful and start with only a few seconds of sungazing within the first hour of sunrise and/or sunset and then work up slowly suring that hour only.

One of my favorite ways to look at the sun is with my eyelids closed, doing yogic "skull shining breath" while sitting comfortably in the sand at the beach.
I try to center the sun in my vision conjunct my third eye. The closest as I can describe it seems as psychedelic: flowing orange and greens which can morph into whites, blues and violets. It can seem as if the skull has dissolved to open a broad expansion into the sky. (Whenever I do this I emerge refreshed.)

Check out the sun gazing forum in curzone.org, a non-profit forum for health and disease discussions. I was told by Chris Hamilton to resubmit this information, so I guess she checked out curezone.org and decided it is a worthwhile site. You have to register to be able to read/post in the forums. Registation is free. You can do a search in the forum search box to find sungazing posts/treads to read. It has moderators so the content is monitored. BTW...What benefits have you folks experienced from sun gazing. Rock on...jax

BTW...What benefits have you folks experienced from sun gazing.

Unfortunately I still have not become a regular Sun Gazer and have not finished the "regimen" or preparation per [Art's teacher-please email for the name].

On the other hand, whenever I get a chance in the window (hour after sunrise, before sunset) I do tend to gaze, longer and longer each time.

For those new to this, my only recommendations would be to research, stay within safe "viewing" guidelines, and try to do it barefoot on "raw" earth.

Kinda synchronous, I SGazed last evening. While I didn't see anything in particular (some report of seeing Sacred Geometry), or hear the humming I normally do, I awoke this morning with some vivid imagery left over from dream land (yep, still gotta work on recall also). I still have not deciphered what it means, but it will come back to me in my imagination I suppose.

Happy Gazing!

Hi Charran and All,

Charran...I just returned from a 7 day journey to Chaco Canyon and other sacred and
beautiful areas in New Mexico with a wonderful spiritual group I am a part of.
I will pm You thru yahoo mail...
it has been a while : )

I connected with the spirits and the light in that beautiful canyon with a few of the
most beautiful and wonderful sunrises (a couple of sunsets too).
The last sunrise before leaving brought me to joyous tears...
if you know what I mean!
HaHa! : )

That last sunrise was an emotional gift as there was an immense morning thunder storm right behind me coming in from the west...just before Grandfather Sun came up that storm made one last bright and loud flash directly behind me from the west and immediately silenced and dispersed "around" the canyon on both the north and south sides...what a memorable and connecting moment with the sun and the spirits and the cosmos.

I had wonderful follow-up gratitude/connection barefoot walks on that high spot at the canyon, too : )

Love and Light,
Dan

This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen! I've always known that somehow the consumption of food was not only unnecessary but actually unhealthy. I have never been able to put together 2+2 and come up with the answer though. I heard of a man a few years ago that was the guru of some kind of cult who claims that he was living off air only. He was probably not aware that it was the sunlight that was feeding him, or he was deliberately suppressing that knowledge for his own purposes.

[Moderator Note: I remember this 'guru' guy, but don't remember the name. He was exposed and admitted he had been 'cheating' and eating at times. If anyone can find that article, it is appreciated]

I'm going to begin this regimen immediately! I know in my heart that this is truly the answer, I have been waiting on this information for many years!

The information has been there all along in the bible and the Jesus story. He wandered in the desert and "Satan" tempted him to change a rock into bread but he resisted. He wasn't starving to death! He was charging up! Later when his disciples offered him food, he declined and told them "I have food that ye know not of." And then there are other references to the people who followed Moses into the wilderness who were fed Mana from heaven. Oh my God! This is incredible! Everything is so clear now. I suddenly feel that I no longer have a need for anything material ever again. This is a truly liberating revelation. Just another piece of the puzzle, on the road to 2012.

Art, thank you so much for starting this thread!

Thanks Jim! However, I only revived it. I believe it was charran who originally introduced it to me back in April. Do a quick internet search and you'll find plenty of info...

Sungazing is only one of the myriad of things I have learned from my fellow members here at the DC Forum. Over time, we all begin to assimilate the HUGE amount of information out there as we learn to make connections, etc. And, from time to time, we all need gentle reminders to refocus our attention back to sungazing, chakras, etc...

I hope you enjoy your first few experiences. I'm personally looking forward to this evening - its clear and gorgeous here in the mountains of Western NC. It is quite awesome, I must admit. Again, NEVER outside of the viewing hours - 1 hour after sunrise, 1 before sunset. Oh, and barefoot on "bare" earth is supposedly the best...

Do not be afraid - your eyes will adjust after a few seconds. You may also have a purple ting in your vision for a few minutes after. It goes away. And frankly, I think my vision has gotten better, not worse, since I began doing this (Unfortunately I am still at the minute or so mark - no where near 44 minutes).

However, take your time and don't overdo it. Just 10 seconds first day, 20 next, etc. (Again, unfortunately, I don't have the ability to sungaze daily or even every other day - its just that I do when I can). As with anything, it takes practice to get where you want to go - this includes patience and conditioning - your body, your mind, your Spirit... ;)

One last thing - go into with an open mind. Different people will have different experiences. You may hear humming, see geometric shapes, etc. But, don't look for these things - be open to whatever your eyes, and mind, perceive... :D And, after you're done, close your eyes and try to meditate, focusing your third eye on the sun... charran, or other more advanced sungazers can guide you better than me.

Well, I'm up to 70 seconds now. Nothing fantastic to report except a general feeling of wellbeing and an inner knowledge that it is the right thing to do. It's not really the first time I've done this. When I was a kid I used to like to watch the sunrise, then someone planted the old fear in me that I would go blind or damage my eyes. Parents can be so destructive, although well meaning.

I used to live in the desert of West Texas at Lajitas. I loved watching the sunsets there, they were so beautiful. I never even thought about any danger, it seemed only natural to watch the sun as it set. I often wished as a kid that I didn't have to eat and always thought that there must be some way to get around it. Later I hoped some scientist would develop some sort of pill that would replace eating all together (I was a big science fiction fan...). It never occurred to me in all that time we were essentially a photoelectric life form. It makes perfect sense now that I think of it though.

It must have been genetic memory, or my higher self giving me all those feelings. Enjoying every second !

I love the sun. It always makes me feel very happy. I do have a beautiful story from the summer about sun gazing. I didn’t know about the one before and after rule at the time, but I love sunsets and it just happened to be less than hour before it set.

I was at a beach on Georgian Bay in Ontario. Georgian Bay is known for its pink sunsets and I am always thrilled when I can go there.

The beach was relatively empty at the time. The sun was such a beautiful colours; violet and red. It’s reflection in the water rippled in a long line that came straight towards me. I felt compelled to get in the water and swim along that line. As I swam, I watched the sun. It was like the line I was following was drawing me in. It was the most incredible feeling. I felt so connected to the water and to the sun, so spiritually uplifted; a true feeling of oneness. I wish I was a better writer and could put the feeling it gave me into words, but I will never forget it.

I’m thrilled to find out that there is a safe practice to watching the sun.

Does sun-gazing work?

The only members I know for certain who are "qualified" to comment are charran and jpstephens2012 (Jim). There are others I'm sure.

Charran introduced me to it awhile back. Unfortunately, I don't currently have access to a good sungazing location to do it everyday. Just when I can. Double unfortunate - I haven't seen charran post in quite some time. Hopefully she comes back and shares some knowledge with us.

Jim started and got into it - I don't know how far he got. Comments Jim?

Anyway, I'd have to say it certainly doesn't hurt, as long as you stick to the "rules" - no sungazing 1 hour after sunrise or 1 hour before sunset. My experiences have always been powerful and enriching, even if my friends make fun of me - "You've been staring at the sun too long!" is one I've heard a few times.

Unfortunately I've never had the opportunity to be barefooted. I look forward to trying that out and comparing that experience. In the end, I think all that matters is following the general guidelines and NOT looking through glass, etc.

Does sun-gazing work?

Hi AmelieJolie,

Here is a brief synopsis of my personal experience. I took out the links of the information sites in my story here but will send them to you personally.
/////
I have had one heck of a beautifully energized 2007. I am sharing a brief outlay of my "direct and personal" experiences so that anyone can "look" into this for themselves if they choose : )

There are many, many, many good things on the way...and each one of us can help the goodness along by simply being the best we can be and the co-creation of love will unfold!
.....
In Synopsis Form:

-Since a child I remember feeling strongly that something was very wrong with the picture in front of me.

-Was immensely distorted by the way many people treated others demeaningly in day to day life.

-I had the inherent eye to eye philosophy...never talk down or look down to anyone.

-Had major issues with what most folks conformed to.

-Jumping to the present, My Mom(83) and My Son(21) went to the other side in June and August of 2003.
Mom went within a month of lung complications...My Son went in a deep sleep of basically choking from snoring apnea.

-Made a conscious decision to turn 180 degrees from energy-input- work-life as I knew it in 3d after the anger subsided from that summer of loss.

-From research on healing, holographics, eastern philosophies, light therapy(man-made)--- I simply decided to start taking in the sunlight visually at sunrise in January of 2007. This intuitive move was made because I basically shrugged my shoulders and accepted that it would simply be a focused benefit regarding 'making a connection' by doing this...even if I were actually putting myself in a guinea pig situation...it did not concern me...I jumped right in on faith and intuition and because I had worked outdoors most all of my adult life building and had had plenty of sun exposure...and I hardly ever wore sunglasses throughout life.

-Three days after starting visual sunrise intake for about a half hour or more I came across Dr. Mitchell Gibson's interview on the Conscious Media Network site.

From that interview I was led to other indigenous culture solar tradition and healing research, including Hira Ratan Manek's process. The rest is history...making adjustments to my method of intake...as in barefoot-earth-contact, sunrise and sunsets, and re-building the time in increments, and taking wind-down gratitude walks afterwards : )

-Now...that first few weeks following my initial solar meditation was, well, rather wild : ) Everything in front of me began to vibrate at a high intensity...colors around me seemed to almost glow, especially in nature. I began to see holographically by simply focusing for just seconds and playing with the contrasts of light. Mostly animal spirits and faces(human and animal) and some human figures and biological-type-glowing figures. Most all felt good and made me smile with enhancement...some darker images(not feeling right to me) appeared very rarely...if I turned away they would simply fade.

-I am on an old farming hill in a town/area in New England where the Nipmuc Indians have a strong history, especially on the lake nearby. [I had said all of my life that the Indians 'had it right' for the most part...and everyone that knew me knew of this feeling of mine.] The area across the street from me (mostly developed now) was actually an Indian cemetery/burial ground. The owner of the home across the street shared with me that he is right at the old entry way...he actually saved the granite pillars that use to mark the entrance and put them on either side of his driveway as respect and honor for their memory. You can see the old pathway to the grounds at the left of his front yard. This is a SACRED HILL. When I first started taking in the light I had a mind-blowing beautiful dream of my Son and Mom and Loved Ones...when I woke from it I was drawn across the street to the entry of the burial grounds.
A path was highlighted in front of me and as I followed it I was taken on top of a rock wall that went thru the woods and was brought to my knees on that wall and spouted out all the names of the loved ones in my life and that brought me to tears...breathing as if I were running a race. When I looked ahead the rock wall went left and right and both directions were highlighted. I had to make a decision of direction...I instinctively chose to the right after that spiritual connection on my knees. I came to a grassy area in the opening and simply fell into a large bowl-type depression in the ground and passed out for a couple minutes. Do not know if this hole was where body remains were dug up and moved or simply someone's backyard where they had dug earth for landscaping. When I came to I gazed at the small tree in front of me and saw an image of an antique "key" glowing in the branches and contrasts. I simply said to myself I am being told "I have the key"!

-A few days after this happening I had a session with a healing therapist an hour and a half away from me. She is connected to the processes(Re-Connective Healing).
Debbie was tuned in entirely to what had gone on with me and when we met there were very few words but many smiles...I had shared none of what had occurred that day with her prior to this meeting. When I laid down on the table to start my session I automatically put my hands together at the navel touching the thumbs and index fingers and creating an opening as is done in the lotus meditation position. And folks, I was never into any kind of meditation prior to these happenings...never went to a healing therapist never put my hands together for reception of energy...and so on. About a minute into relaxation on the healing table I felt an immense surge of energy coming in thru my hands and into my body at the navel area...and I mean an unbelievable thrust...it actually made my chest expand and my head push back against the pillow. The whole experience was immensely uplifting...as I had talked out loud and connected to My Son, My Mother and other Loved Ones...once again.

-A couple days after that session another intense dream and that "key" was revealed. And Y'All know what it is because You All know what it is...it is that simple. "UNCONDITIONAL LOVE" For Ourselves, For Others, For the Spirit World that is here to help Us if We ask and take Loving Action. Later that morning of that dream I was in the backyard chanting "Unconditional Love" jumping up and down like a little kid facing the sun...laughing out loud...saying..."Ok..ok..I get it...I get it...HaHaHa! I had to show Unconditional Love and acceptance towards this energy and enlightenment I was receiving because I was having doubts along the way regarding much of it too.

-When I went inside the message machine on my phone was blinking, played it back...
guess who? : )
It was Debbie, checking in on me, actually laughing in the message while asking, "Are You OK, Dan...just wanted to check in...give me a call if You feel the need.." And then She went on to confirm our next session appointment. Wild and Wonderful Stuff! : )

I also have a few posts here regarding it... quite a while back...if you look through my personal posts.
Solar meditation is my personal way of 'connecting' and it works wonderfully for me...as in anything else...it takes a commitment.
I have not spoken with Charran lately but use to communicate with her fairly regularly by email.

DAB, what a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing.

I must omit I have been drawn to view the sun also and have witness some rather neat experiences..... more blue, pink rotating. Like I could see in the eye of the sun. Crazy, but real. Don't tell my Eye doctor.....

The other, the Sun is a source of energy and charges us up when we need it. I like to step out and soak in some rays as much as I can or when I just feel drained.

The sunsets lately have been wonderful.... like a show all in their selfs.... special.... each night presents a new aray of colors and slights.

I do check myself when I glance.... should I or shouldn't I..... and keep it short.....

Hi Rhonda,
Sent You a PM so that You may get to sites that lay out a safe process for the start up / continuation of solar meditation / sungazing. I believe Art also has his own site with story and some links. Plenty of good information around on the internet if You look. It was one of those things that 'just felt right' to me when I started it up safely and intuitively last year!

I thoroughly enjoy and connect with nature...
sooooo, solar meditation has been my spiritually nourishing cup of tea!

The Best to You!

Again, Im finding great interests in what effects the Pineal Gland. This gland seems to be the 'regular regulator'. Its our bodies radio for rhythm?.?. From the start of our creation in the womb we receive signals from the outside that start our rhythmical cycles. The biggest cycle is our mother sleeping and waking. If darkness triggers the Pineal gland, surely sunlight, the opposite of this rhythm influences it also. Mabey we havent been able to prove this yet like we can prove that darkness effects it but I have a feeling that sunlight is its other Pro. Mabey sunlight helps keep the Pineal Gland in check?.?Like the de-calcifying ect....

This subject highly interests me for I feel there is a link here with ADD and autism.

I know that David says that darkness seems to activate the PG for the release of meletonine, but how do we know that its not the 'falling asleep' that actually triggers it. So I would like to know if any tests have been done to study people that sleep with lights on? And if you sleep with a dim light, will that effect the activity of the PG? Last night I felt a great need to make sure everyone in the house was sleeping without any extra lights. After the kids fell asleep I turned off their night lights and I even found myself turning my alarm clock around so it wasnt glaring light towards me? I told myself I was being silly but I felt a great desire to do this. When I layed down in my bed before I turned the alarm clock around I would close my eyes and notice the glare of the lights....this never bothered me before? So Im wondering, when my children were young and wanted to fall asleep to the TV glaring at them did this cause little activity from their PG? And could this be effecting them now?

Could it be that the moon light and sun light are the true lights that our body accepts to activate the necessary glands that we need to have a good productive PG? I see where you can buy meletonine? But how good is this quality? Its not like their taking human meletonine and selling it in a bottle. I find this risky...

I feel that all the natural things in the world(natural foods and natural light) are food for the physical body and spirit body.

I agree with the bare foot idea. It seems that to absorb the sun fully, it would be best to ground yourself with the earth for she is constantly absorbing the sun. I feel the same good can come from absorbing moonlight with bare feet also.

How important is the moonlight? Just another question going through my mind. If darkness is surely what triggers the PG to activate then does moon light keep it from activating? Surely not. I consider the body to be effected my the moonlight through the cycle of the moon because our body feels that the moons light is not the same every night. So mabey to truly get the biggest, effective, constant activity from our PG we should absorb the sun rising, absorb the sun setting as well and soak up some moonlight every day. Some say this would take too much time. But I bet testing this would show some great consistencies from the activity of the PG. Could one of the biggest problems be the artifical lights we surround ourselves with? I use to be very very bad about having my TV on while I fell asleep. I wonder....

Peace to all,
Lynette

H Lynette,

In full agreement! The moonlight is the same wonderful light reflecting off of a great big beautiful rock/gem/crystal in our sky, Grandmother Moon!

I believe if You do some research into David's talks he mentions the benefit and spiritual enhancement and enlightenment and enjoyment of sunlight and moonlight time and again...I believe he leans to moonlight moreso for himself if I remember reading/listening to that from him in the past in his archives he has shared.

Personal moonlight and sunlight meditation/gazing/trance process to spiritually charge and uplift and inform ourselves is a practice worth practicing, imho!
:) It is a wonderful and direct way to get tuned in to the changes occurring!

you need total darkness to release sufficient amounts of melatonin. or was this to manufacture it? either way, when you sleep you want Total darkness. no nightlights or moonlight etc.

naturally occuring dmt is just as amazing. this little compound accounts for our sense of time!

after seeing so much rehash about the pineal it makes me wonder what the hoopla was about the amygdala. that was science to. you can feel your brain juices flow when stimulating the area.

Have found this discussion extremely interesting and timely since only yesterday I was looking into benefits of vitamin D which is our "sunlight vitamin". According to the reports that I read most of our population is suffering a deficiency of this necessary vitamin and listed many of the diseases and conditions caused by this deficiency. It may be that the practice of sungazing came into being as those beings recognizing the benefits of gathering the rays of the sun into the body. The exposure of the body to the rays of the sun causes it manufacture the needed vitamin D. Just another one of natures marvelous provisions.

Awesome Dazcox!

It has been tremendously relaxing/connecting for me, too!

I sometimes enjoy the light reflecting off of and through my quartz crystals.
Wonderful resonating occurs when the light enhancement reflects to the eyes when all of the colors of the rainbow/chakras are coming through the crystal...together or one beautiful color at a time! It is almost as though the crystal is emitting sound too when the light is reflecting just right! : )

Just a note that Your eyes need to build up a little light intensity at a time before they can take in the light when the reflection pulls out that full resonating light. Saying this as safety for those new to it even if it is common sense!

Enjoy! Shungo!

Wow Art! What a fantastic thread this is turning out to be! Great stuff posted here by all. Thank you all so much!

To answer Art's query, unfortunately I too live in a very inopportune location to engage in the practice regularly although I still do so through the trees. I intend to relocate soon and having morning and evening access to a clear view of the sun is paramount to the new location.

Generally, my experience so far has been tempered by my location. However, I can easily gaze in excess of 30 minutes and feel energized and joyous afterwards. I've yet to have any esoteric experiences as a result of it but I'm certain those are available to anyone so oriented and has regular access to a suitable viewing location.

My faith in the benefits of sungazing are unshakable though. Just the experiences I have had so far tells me it is the right thing to do. According to HRM the higher benefits do not start manifesting until you are able to gaze on a regular basis for at least 15 minutes a day. I am unable to do it on a regular basis at this time but will get there eventually.

Congratulations to all who have had very positive experiences with it. I believe this practice is destined to be a regular part of the coming age and a part that we can begin enjoying NOW. Indeed, it may be a necessity to the reanimation of our full DNA sequence. ;)

Thanks you all for posting and introducing me to this ancient practice (been doing it for the past month). Just want to make a contribution to the thread in hopes that the following link (I came across it in my research on the topic) might be of help to the beginners/skeptics who are cautious (like I was when first starting out) and would like to have a fair and balanced approach on sungazing.
As with any practice, one should not do this with preconceived expectactions but instead approach sungazing with persistence and perseverance and let things happen as they will. This "ongoing" article gives summaries on the various teachers and their different approaches.

On a side note, does anyone have the latest word on a documentary about sungazing produced by Peter Sorcher, (with interviews of leading sungazers)?

In post #21 by jpstephens2012, the moderator comments about an article that he had read (about a 'guru' who was exposed and admitted he had been 'cheating' and eating at times). In the link I gave in post #40, there is a section about a particular sungazing 'teacher' was exposed for portraying a false image, so this link might just be the article the moderator wanted.

Love You All!
Time to "create" our own world of love! ;)

.....

Well, 4/19/08.

It is Spring 2008...been staring directly at the sunrises and sunsets with eyes wide open since the beginning of January of 2007. That is well over 500 hours of solar meditation with direct intake through the eyes with gratitude and asking for "love, light, peace and healing around planet earth" while connecting. I'd say it is rather apparent that something is amiss with what we have been told about the sun, its energy, its life giving qualities of quantities, its nutritional value, its metabolism uplift/upgrade...its general happiness enhancement to the highest degree.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y72/1Eagle1/Summer_Sunrise_1024x768-479091.jpg

Methinks it is time, right now, for Us to take a good look at just about everything we have been led to believe about this current societal reality We "seem" to be embedded in. There is an intense upgrade of energy coming onto this wonderful planet earth...and my solar meditation process of the last year and a third just happens to be one very direct way to connect...there are many others ways, too! God-Given Ways...not man-made ways...that IS nature and...earth and water and wind and light. Time to re-connect to the fullest capacity each of Us can....it IS time to forget about time as We know it and do everything we do in front of us in the now as though it were a spiritual happening...because every moment IS just that...a spiritual happening...no matter what it is we are doing...work, play, prayer, meditation...every single little thing We do is a very big thing because we are re-learning that all the little things are spiritual and when we embrace this everything becomes spiritual.

The more we enjoy nature with a loving embrace the bigger nature will be. The more we enjoy each other with a loving embrace the bigger love will be. The more we interact with one another right in front of us in the now the more interaction there will be with one another in the now. We are changing the world...each one of us...by changing our world in front of us. Each positive, loving step we take we will get ten times the helping and loving energy to push us and pull us along. Changing the world to love by loving everything and everyone in front of us. The energy is here...as never before...as we have never experienced. Just simply decide to experience it!

Adding this here because it got wonderful responses elsewhere!
Ties in with much of what Divine Cosmos IS about, imho!

The inspiring message is that if we knew what it was going to be like after this transition, we would be jumping up and down for joy - now that's a truly uplifting message from our future![/i]
... AND THE FUTURE IS NOW : )

I am 52 years old and have been up down and around in the business world and raising children and lived all around the U S of A and on and on...not a spring chicken is what I am getting at.
And I believe we, those of us with healthy eyes, were meant to gaze at the sun for uplift and information and to do it building time up slowly at first at sunrise and/or sunset...
and this type of meditation was hidden from the masses purposely because it is so "dna" and immortality re-connecting! Indigenous cultures with strong solar traditions were mass-murdered all around the world and this tradition was hidden away...as were others.
There are many other ways to re-connect...this is just one way that re-connects our whole system...internally...externally...directly...flui dly...expediently, imho!
I know many of you are fully aware of this but I am adding another note that I recite sanskrit mantras that resonate with me while solar meditating. I also ask for love, light, peace, balance, healing and oneness around the world...I do this daily at sunrise and sunset and silently to myself throughout the day when I am able...driving, doing something physically repetitive, etc.
I ask to gather all the extra energy I can handle at each solar meditation to pass on to each and everyone in front of me with an open heart...in other words, I consciously give it away because there is so much that I gather...and I feel and sense this happening, daily with more resonance...and any of You can too...if You choose : ) And once again, especially now, there are many forms of personal meditations and nature connections that will work for anyone that opens up to them...it is simply that for me solar meditation has been the most balancing and connecting and uplifting. Sooooo...I am living and walking and real-time evidence that we have been purposely fear directed away from forming a personal relationship with the sun because this relationship naturally unhitches us from the man-made control reigns all around! This "un-hitching" occurs in the most beautiful ways imaginable...and that is from real-time personal experience : )

Unconditional Love with Wisdom IS the only way...
and we are helping one another understand that, nowso in time more than ever!

Things are pretty powerfully good in front of me in my life and getting moreso each day...
and I know we're on the same planet. : )

I am so adamant about good things coming and sharing that with everyone in my daily life that when I share these simple truths I feel and that resonate with me the people I share this with smile with love. It may be crazy and illogical...but it IS what is happening in my life in front of me!

I do not read the newspapers or watch tv or listen to regular radio...thought I'd throw that in!

Hello

Last summer i was watching the sun go down and the full moon rise from top of a small island in the Gothenburg archipelago (Sweden) It so happened I was reading
"Medicine of the Cherokee" The way of Right Relationship. I opened the book and there was this story about Sister Sun and Brother Moon describing "The Rule of Opposites" and how to understand the point of differences in energy.

Next chapter was "Choosing a Direction" about a boy sitting in the middle of a path that crossed the directions of North and South, East and West...I stop reading and walk to the highest point to see the sun finally go down, I look down and find myself standing on an ironplate with the Four Directions....

The day before yesterday i was walking the dog and the sun going down in between the rooftops and some treees caught my eyes......i read the sungazingthread this spring and used to watch it go down from a small mountain with a tree that is easy to climb, but things "came in between"..

...i squeezed my eyes and there was this explosion of extreme intense red, green and yellow..perhaps some blue but the other colours dominated...and they reminded me of an indianhead with the feather-thing on his head that is used as a symbol for an icehockeyleague here in Gothenburg:D only that these "feathers" were shaped like >>>>>>> >>>>>>> >>>>> pointing out all around the "sun-head", also i could shift the squeezing so a golden ray almost hit my chest and i stretched out my hand and i would see the ray on it????

I woke up this morning to autumn sunshine in my eyes, I jumped out of bed and ran on to my balcony picking up my plants on the way to soke it up.
The morning air was fresh, clean and crisp, the sky was blue.
I allowed myself to be nourished by the rays, drinking them in through my eyes.
Through out the days I felt a sunshining on the inside, inside my heart.

I think that everyone should become aware of the power and the food that the sun has to offer at this time, particularly the early morning sun before 12 noon.
So much nourishment and knowledge in the light, drink it up, bathe in it, make love with the sun and build a relationship with it.

I would love to hear others stories of their experiences with the sun

Much love and light

what if you live in a cold climate where standing barefoot is not an option?

Just enjoy it anyway, Mr. Adam G....and build the time up slowly at early sunrise and later sunset following your own heart in meditation mode.

.......

Brought this over from a homestead site I have been visiting for years..
Let's change the world folks...each in our own way, now!
...

I came on these homestead sites and had genuine respect and honor for many of you and your hard working ethics and your wanting to be on your own in your own individual way by as much of your own ways and means as was possible. Your open hearts and your open sharing and your willingness to help one another.

You see, I've never done lsd...never done what would be considered 'hard' drugs...never got off on or into any so called 'hippie' ways. I threw in the towel of drinking alcohol over 20 years ago now and doing any kind of "recreational" anything...smoking pot, etc. ...anything at all like that...20 years Folks!

So here comes January 2007 and I start taking in sunrises back to back through my eyes as a way to consciously connect because I was prompted to do this by an inner urge that felt right and true to me because of research I was doing on light and sound therapy.

And what happens...my inner vibration and frequency of my own flow of life within me goes sky high after the 3rd day and I start seeing and feeling things those few weeks in January that many have had occur through vivid dreams and lucid dreaming and out of body experiences at near death and through taking peyote or san pedro or ayahuasca or ibogaine or yes, lsd, or any other consciousness altering plant derived chemical reaction and interaction that enhances the spirit world. None of this planned by me or known by me because I never took any of those nor had any direct personal experience with them...this all came from the sunlight at sunrise and sunset.

Sooo... things happen to me from looking directly at the sun and 'wanting' to enhance my awareness and wellness and help change the reality we live in and under so that I may help others help themselves if they so well choose to change their own realities because each of us has that power and ability in a beautiful and loving way and we will be protected from the evil intent all around us now more than ever because more and more people are simply connecting in their own ways and deciding it is time to change their own reality right now...to an unconditional loving and self-responsible reality where anything is possible because anything is possible when we decide to be of service to others all around us that are beginning to see it is time for them to change their own lives.

I found this You Tube interview of Dr. Mitchell Gibson from last year..this is part 2 of that series where he talks about the sun and it's personal enhancing energy by looking at it at early sunrise and late sunset to get use to it...and You Tube is easier for many of you to listen to on your computer because it records in short 10 minute bites.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR4hXQqMAz0&feature=related

And this, once again, is not for everybody, but for those of you that think it may help you...it will. What it did for me was simply help me realize that we are so much more than we have ever been told and lied to as to what we are...each of us is a powerful loving entity that can change this whole world rightside up right in front of us in what would seem an instant now in time as we know it!

Things are changing fast and this is one beautiful way to tune in if it resonates with you...safely and directly ...just do it at early sunrise and/or late sunset and take it in slowly at first and listen to your heart and build up the time to 5 minutes if you decide to do it. Things are going to be changing ultra fast in the next few years. Might just as well tune into the real world of mother nature and mother earth and the rhythm of real and natural life instead of the man-made static created mess of news and tv and radio. This process enhanced my own connection to nature and calmed me down and it actually nourishes me like food...and once again...it is not the only natural way to do this....but it is a powerful wonderful way for me and many others that are coming forward more now than ever.

I first heard of this browsing the web last summer. I saw a video with [specific person] informing people about sungazing. I became very interested and decided to try it for myself.
I've been sungazing for 4-5 months now. I'm on the west coast so I watch the sunset on the pacific ocean. It's very relaxing and after a few minutes I can feel my 3rd eye being activated and my head tingles. Looking at the sun warms me up and I could probably stand barefoot in cold weather but I wouldn't recommend putting yourself in an uncomfortable situation. You don't want to practice sungazing while you're focused on something else.

Happy sungazing everyone

Was it typically for meditation or prophecy?
I'm just curious. Trying to learn new things.

Hi Kelly,
Yes,
Solar Meditation and Direct Connection goes way back!
Listen to Dr. Gibson's talk as a start for answers to Your question.

And there is plenty of information on the internet if You look through Google. Many Native American Medicine People/Elders/Tribal Council would meditate with the Sun at sunrise...looking directly at it and talking to it as Spirit Council. Much has been hidden about Our wonderful relationships with the Sun..these relationships are ancient and beautiful!

Give sungazing a whirl for meditation if Your Own Heart likes the idea...try it...Ya might like it:

At early sunrise or late sunset at first...build it up each time looking directly at the sun in ten second increments...finish meditation of Your Choice with eyes closed facing the sun.

It just may calm You enough to "Connect" and keep Your feet from tapping! ...especially if You are making barefoot contact with Mother Earth while meditating at first.

And as far as Your Dreams go...Flow With Them Towards Wisdom..."What do You FEEL Your Dream is saying/teaching/showing...what do You FEEL?!"
.......

Morning E,
Wanted to add that "darker" energies and solar meditation do not mix too well...this is from extensive personal experience!
A conscious connection with the Sun seems to dissuade the direct influence of 'not-so-nice' entities.
Sooo enjoy it more anyway You can...You do not have to sungaze to get the benefits. But I would strongly suggest that You get out in nature "daily" for at least an hour and take in the sunlight off of a river or stream or lake near You or simply be much more conscious of the Light when You take walks in Nature...speak to the Sun and surrounding Nature Spirits about Your Dreams as though It and They were/are council for You...garner a personal relationship with ALL that You Love about Nature.

NOW is the time to connect to Nature diligently, imho!
Sooo get outdoors more : ) : ) : ) ...and more and more and more and more...

I was just thinking recently to try to connect with our Sun because I read the book [please PM for book and author] and she mentions info from the Sirians.

They refer to our Sun as Ra which I thought was familiar from the Law of One.

It seems that the Sun is a Light Being that is rising to the next 4th demention and taking all the planets in Her Solor system with Her. And that she is changing and giving off more radiation and colors and different waves that are actually helping the Earth rise up too.

And our Sun is helping us humans break free from the negative grid that binds the Earth and us to the lower wave patterns. So I thought to thank Her for Her help and connect to her more in spirit rather than looking at the Sun.
But I have heard of Solorians who live off the Sun as food and dont have to eat anymore.
