"Months after successful discovery of the HD-DVD processing key, an unprecedented campaign of censorship, in the form of DMCA takedown notices by the MPAA, has hit the Net. For example Spooky Action at a Distance was killed. More disturbingly, my story got Dugg twice, with the second wave hitting 15,500 votes, and today I found out it had simply disappeared from Digg. How long until the long arm of the MPAA gets to my own site (run in Ecuador) and the rest of them holding the processing key? How long will we let rampant censorship go on, in the name of economic interest?"

Do we really need censorship in a free country?
Enjoy!

That's awesome....
I once did an internship at a professional recording studio and was exposed to their worries about easily "stolen" music and movies. I can see how it's scary for a person involved in the artistic process, but I'm without empathy for the professionals with no artistic credence whose productions and mountains of wealth are threatened (I'm referring to producers and NOT production engineers -- many people who operate the recording equipment are as talented or more so than those creating the music.. it takes an incredible ear to mix a GOOD track). I don't have a solution for the industry as a whole, but I whole-heartedly believe that censorship, wild definitions of copyright, and criminalizing peoples' desires to experience art are not the answers. It is my sincere hope that those who have cracked this key generator keep at it and further undermine the glass house of the art INDUSTRY (hint: to me, art and industry seem pretty far apart in spirit).

Hey Larry, thanks for making my day. The commenters to that blurb had me in stitches - hilarious!
In answer to your question: no, we don't need censorship in a free country. Do you know where I can find one (a free country)?
I don't even have the technology to view an HD-DVD, let alone copy one. So it really doesn't do me any good, but I still get a kick out of seeing greed in any form neutralized. And honestly, I rarely watch a movie more than once. Most are too predictable the first time through, and become down-right boring on the 2nd viewing. Not to mention the sinister aspects of pscho-conditioning and propaganda in so many. What a laugh that they would think so much garbage needs to be protected. hahaha!
