i am noticing a much more frequent level of music coming out that talks about spirituality - this is clearly eluding to it as well.

but this, and movies, i mean the entertainment culture is a reflection of who we are. and it shows our current trend and mindset.

to me this shows a much higher frequency like david says at the end of 2012. as we progress, it becomes faster and faster and faster. i mean, the thought processes two years ago feel so backwards thinking - and it was just two years ago.

great music everyone!

i think this song has particular significance to what is happening, and what is going to happen. it touches me very deeply and hopefully it will for all of you as well. much love to you all!

the doors - waiting for the sun

at first flash of eden, we race down to the sea.
standing there on freedom's shore.
waiting for the sun (3x)
can you feel it now that spring has come.
and it's time to live in the scattered sun.
waiting for the sun (3x, pause, again slower)
waiting.... waiting.... waiting.... waiting.... (2x)
waiting for you to - come along
waiting for you to - hear my song
waiting for you to - come along
waiting for you to - tell me what went wrong
this is the strangest life i've ever known.
yeah! (riff 8x)
can you feel it now that spring has come.
and it's time to live in the scattered sun.
waiting for the sun (3x)
waiting... for... the suuuuun. (riff 2x)

inkubus sukkubus is a pagan group, so the lyrics do refer to witches and the wheel of time; something that is across the board here. but these lyrics are from the song craft of the wise - and the song definitely falls in line with davids message, well ra's and just universal wisdom:

across a thousand nations
and forty-thousand years
the teachers and the healers
we are the craft of the wise
the old world and the new world
remember the nature people
we who were persecuted
and we shall be reborn
and we dance round, hand in hand
we are at one with the tides of the land
we are wild and we are free
we are wild and we are free
but the tide is ever changing
the wheel ever spinning round
and in the heart of the dying empire
was born the church of rome
and they did rise, but they shall fall
and all their lies shall be seen as lies
and the world shall be free from the yoke of guilt
and they shall be no more
the forests of the world are dying
but they shall be reborn
for the wind of change is coming
a-riding on the storm
and from the desolation
is born the seed of hope
for the tyrants fall, one and all
the wheel is ever spinning round

usually when you think of hip-hop it isn't very political (save for a few great artists). here is a song i really like by nas.

gotta listen closely to the lryics and you'll see hes talking about subjects that we talk about here often.

nas - were not alone

also love his speech at the end of the song.

hello everyone, i would like to share a couple of songs that i have had on repeat, they came to me from things i've done lately.
a couple of weeks ago, i went to a medieval festival and the atmosphere was beautiful. it was a perfect slightly cool summer day though the sun was bright and golden. we tasted good food, watched demonstrations and listened to music, but the highlight was a show at the end where fire dancers danced and breathed fire to deeply touching tribal beats. i was completely enthralled and taken outside of this world. the show was followed by fireworks to music. this song played and i began to search for it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6svxanq6d7m
i managed to find it within moments of searching on the internet which struck me as highly important and seredipidous. its called ameno by a group i already loved era, but i had never listened to their older albums.

another event was when my boyfriend and i went to london. this was a city that i have been dreaming of visiting and it was indeed a spectacular time. i feel so blessed to be able to travel so much lately. we went to see the lion king show with the live actors. it was so beautiful and i had strange overwhelming emotion in my chest and i kept wanted to cry as the music swelled. the song called he lives in you so touched me that i cannot stop listening to it.
here is the closest version of it that i saw in london.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zrfjkd8dck&feature=related
and here is another version of it that i found that was touching too, but a bit different.
when she sings "have faith" i get shivers :)

i found here a video to sooth the beast inside.

http://www.wimp.com/nativecommandments/

some commandments that native americans used to respect, and maybe some still respect these.

i don't agree with all that is being said there, but it's pretty inspiring, with beautiful images, a relaxing song and some commandments i would not hesitate to follow.

from the q'uo transcripts, ll research, april 19 2009:

http://www.llresearch.org/transcripts/issues/2009/2009_0419.aspx

in any period of third density there would be the desire to use the time well. and there exists within each of you, as part of the birthright of your nature, that spirit within that cannot be stilled. it can be distracted. it can be beaten down and repressed. but the simple fact is that it is part of being human to desire to know the creator that made him and to desire to serve that creator according to its nature. every culture and tribe of your planet has its spiritual stories, its way of relating to the infinite one. you are inescapably and irretrievably spiritual beings. and the work of third density has been to awaken to that nature, to resolve to become of a more refined nature than the great ape which you were born to be.

yes, in any age, these thoughts and hopes would be upon your heart. yet for those who have become aware of their nature, and who have also become aware of the imminent arrival of that year of 2012, there is a more deeply poignant and pointed desire. and that is to be ready when the train pulls into the station, that you may get on board and say, “hallelujah! let’s go.” [2]

[2] it is likely that this sentiment takes after the song by rod stewart and jeff beck, ©1985, all rights reserved. the opening lyrics are, “people get ready, there’s a train a-coming. you don’t need no baggage, you just get on board. all you need is faith to hear the diesels humming. don’t need no ticket, you just thank the lord.”

mark here - on the advice of q'uo, contained within this transcript - i asked for an indication, while reading this, that i might receive a sign from my elder brothers and sisters that i am at this moment in close communion with those who love me and are here for me. i was prompted to go to youtube and seek this tune, and i immediately realized with tears that within this vid lay the response to me.

a burst of sobbing and pure joy that has wiped away the cobwebs of the last few days!

watch jeff on the guitar - my emotional response was in direct communion of joy with his, at the same moment.

geez...i only looked through the first page of this thread, i'm not gonna take the time to go through the other 26...lol. but i figured i'd share a link to an awesome page that has a massive list of some wonderful quotes about music:

http://www.harmonixhealing.com/htm/quotations.htm

"music is prophecy; it's styles and economic organization are ahead of society because it explores, much faster than material reality can, the entire range of possibilities in a given code. it makes audible the new world which will gradually become visible."
---jaques atalli: noise (1977)

"the musician is very close to mysticism, far closer than the philosopher...because music is meaningful without any words; it is meaningful simply because it rings some bells in your heart...creates a synchronicity between you and itself, when your heart starts resonating in the same way, when you start pulsating the same way."
---osho, philosophia ultima

just re-heard this song today, and reminded me what i was feeling lately, also because i noticed chemtrails in the skies over denver today... not sure the lyrics are 100% correct, but here you go. does this resonate with anyone else right now?
============================================
read it in the papers, it ain't fair
you know who today don't seem to care
livin' lovin' gettin' loose
masturbatin' with a noose
now someone's kickin' out the chair
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

some kind of voodoo
come across this land
some kind of voodoo
we need a medicine man

everybody's lookin' at the sky
can't believe the cover ups and lies
they been tellin' us since birth
pissin' off old mother earth
my gones are by-gones prophesized
come on

some kind of voodoo
come across this land
some kind of voodoo
we need a medicine man
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
oh, oh, oh, oh

wonder should i go or should i stay
what we got ain't working any way
i did my best, god knows i've tried
i feel like i've been crucified
why did you, why did you,
why did you take it all away
voodoo, voodoo, medicine man...

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +
were leaving together,
but still its farewell
and maybe well come back,
to earth, who can tell?
i guess there is no one to blame
were leaving ground
will things ever be the same again?

its the final countdown.

the final countdown.

were heading for venus and still we stand tall
cause maybe they've seen us and welcome us all
with so many light years to go and things to be found
im sure that well all miss her so.

it's the final countdown.

the final countdown.

the final countdown, final countdown

the final countdown.

it's the final countdown.

the final countdown.

the final countdown.

its the final countdown, final countdown.

we're leaving together.

the final countdown.

we'll all miss her so.

it's the final countdown, final countdown.

it's the final countdown.

have always enjoyed this song by huey lewis.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wikove0mf1k

everybody’s dreamin’ ’bout a perfect world
where you could have everthing your heart desires
a perfect boy will meet a perfect girl
and the perfect love will set the world on fire
well what you ganna do, when one and one makes three
and a vision of the future is impossible to see
nobody’s perfect, not even a perfect fool,
but if you’ll have faith in me
i’ll keep faith in you

ain’t no livin’ in a perfect world
there ain’t no perfect world anyway
ain’t no livin’ in a perfect world
but we’ll keep on dreamin’ of livin’ in a perfect world
keep on dreamin’ of livin’ in a perfect world

everybody’s got secrets, now you know that it’s true
they talk about me and they’ll talk about you
something happens to the pledges of trust
down through the years they begin to rust
now here we are amid the tears and the laughter
still waiting for our happily ever after
we’ll keep on dreamin’ as long as we can
try to remember and you’ll understand

ain’t no lvin’ in a perfect world
there ain’t no perfect world anyway
ain’t no livin’ in a perfect world
but we’ll keep on dreamin’ of livin’ in a perfect world
keep on dreamin’ of livin’ in a perfect world

i just found out theres a new cruxshadows song coming out very soon (you can hear the excerpt on their website). its called quicksilver. i wrote down what i could make out of the lyrics though and once again, the message in their music just resonates so much to me:

you are not wrong
if you believe
your will defines your destiny
but if you act in selfish fear
the truth means nothing

you are not wrong
if you perceive
the message veiled in mystery
but if we bury what we dream
were left with what remains

there is no vision that we surrender
breathless time can take no prisoners
my avatar
i call you to return
and the cycle is fulfilled

im taking back my love
taking back my pride
taking back my dreams
and my life

this is the ground
i will defend
on rage of angels
bares the end

im taking back my hope
taking back my gold
taking back my memories
and my soul

this brand is forged to my crusade
quicksilver
the future belongs to the brave

i had heard this song in the past but never really paid much attention to the lyrics. then about 1 year ago while driving on the highway with the family all asleep i turned on the radio and this song had just started. i was quite taken by the lyrics and promptly purchased the song when i arrived home. to this day whenever i hear it it still provokes some interesting feelings inside. here's the lyrics:

well, i dreamed i saw the knights in armor coming
sayin' something about a queen
there were peasants singin' and drummers drumming
and the archer split the tree
there was a fanfare blowin' to the sun
that floated on the breeze
look at mother nature on the run in the nineteen seventies
look at mother nature on the run in the nineteen seventies

i was lyin' in a burned out basement
with a full moon in my eyes
i was hopin' for a replacement
when the sun burst through the skies
there was a band playin' in my head
and i felt like getting high
thinkin' about what a friend had said,
i was hopin' it was a lie
thinkin' about what a friend had said,
i was hopin' it was a lie

well, i dreamed i saw the silver spaceships flying
in the yellow haze of the sun
there were children crying and colors flying
all around the chosen ones
all in a dream, all in a dream
the loading had begun
flyin' mother nature's silver seed
to a new home in the sun
flyin' mother nature's silver seed
to a new home in the sun

peace,
john

in my opinion, easily some of the most beautiful & thought provoking lyrics ever, in both 'tool' & 'a perfect circle'. (and of course the music is awesome as well). for example, the tool song "reflection" is one of my favorites:

i have come curiously close to the end, down
beneath my self indulgent pitiful hole. defeated i
concede and move closer. i may find comfort here
i may find peace within the emptiness. how pitiful.

it's calling me
...

and in my darkest moment, fetal and weeping.
the moon tells me a secret. my confidant.
'as full and bright as i am, this light is not my own
a million light reflections pass over me'
it's source is bright and endless.
she resuscitates the hopeless
without her we are lifeless satellites drifting.

and as i pull my head out
i am without one doubt
don't want to be down here
soothing my narcissism i
must crucify the ego
before it's far too late
i pray the light lifts me out

before i pine away.
...

so crucify the ego
before it's far too late
to leave behind this place so
negative and blind and cynical

and you will come to find
that we are all one mind
capable of all that's
imagined and all conceivable

just let the light touch you
and let the words spill through
just let them pass right through,
bringing out our hope and reason.

before we pine away.

i dont know much about carl sagan but i can tell from this that he is a man of great grace, knowledge and understanding. too bad he's not with us anymore, i believe that science today could use a man with his grace and understanding.

what about sunrise
what about rain
what about all the things
that you said we were to gain...
what about killing fields
is there a time
what about all the things
that you said was yours and mine...
did you ever stop to notice
all the blood we've shed before
did you ever stop to notice
the crying earth the weeping shores?

aaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaah
aaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaah

what have we done to the world
look what we've done
what about all the peace
that you pledge your only son...
what about flowering fields
is there a time
what about all the dreams
that you said was yours and mine...
did you ever stop to notice
all the children dead from war
did you ever stop to notice
the crying earth the weeping shores

aaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaah
aaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaah

i used to dream
i used to glance beyond the stars
now i don't know where we are
although i know we've drifted far

aaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaah
aaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaah
aaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaah
aaaaaaaaah aaaaaaaaah

hey, what about yesterday
(what about us)
what about the seas
(what about us)
the heavens are falling down
(what about us)
i can't even breathe
(what about us)
what about apathy
(what about us)
i need you
(what about us)
what about nature's worth
(ooo, ooo)
it's our planet's womb
(what about us)
what about animals
(what about it)
we've turned kingdoms to dust
(what about us)
what about elephants
(what about us)
have we lost their trust
(what about us)
what about crying whales
(what about us)
we're ravaging the seas
(what about us)
what about forest trails
(ooo, ooo)
burnt despite our pleas
(what about us)
what about the holy land
(what about it)
torn apart by creed
(what about us)
what about the common man
(what about us)
can't we set him free
(what about us)
what about children dying
(what about us)
can't you hear them cry
(what about us)
where did we go wrong
(ooo, ooo)
someone tell me why
(what about us)
what about babies
(what about it)
what about the days
(what about us)
what about all their joy
(what about us)
what about the man
(what about us)
what about the crying man

you are not wrong if you perceive
the message veiled in mystery

quicksilver, the future belongs to the brave

you are not wrong if you believe
perception works its alchemy
and i become the phoenix once again
transforming destiny

we brace before the fates descending
with resolution never ending
as nike stands, her shield before me,
sophia guide my hand

there is no wisdom that we surrender
breathless time can take no prisoners
my avatar, i call you to return
and the cycle is fulfilled

i feel the wishfire burning cold
black wings to fill the sky unfold
and nothing takes from god his storm
see the angels' eyes transform

you're welcome! i got this video from a fellow musiscian. we were part of joculatores upslienses that performed medieval music.. there are actually some other vids with other "monks" but they are not that funny...strange indeed...what makes this one so special you think?

i think it is just that it revealed a lightheartedness and sense of humor that is not often evident in a group of silent monks, not to mention the fancy foot action of a few of them :d.

i recently found myself floored after listing to a beautiful 4-part orchestral composition called “wanderer fantasy” by franz liszt – which was a transcription for orchestra of a piano song by franz schubert, also called wanderer fantasy.

“it is considered schubert's most technically demanding composition for the piano. schubert himself said "the devil may play it", in reference to his own inability to do so properly.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/wanderer_fantasy

wanderer fantasy by schubert, which was composed in 1822, was based off of his prior work called “der wander,” which was based on a poem by a german poet named georg philipp schmidt von lübeck. schubert’s final version of der wander was finished and released in 1821. this means that all this occurred exactly 160 years prior to the channeling of the law of one in 1981 and 1982 (the law of one being easily arguable as that work most responsible for our understanding of the wanderer). ever since i read david’s article on 40 year cycles i have been on the lookout for them, and even found that if i divide 40 by 7, that value of 5 years and 8.5 months seems to shockingly correspond to repeat situations in my own life. as a simple example, the periods in my life where i was golfing turned out to follow that cycle. so i’m guessing super-cycles are even more archetypically expressive in nature, and with these 4 part songs it comes out to 40 years times 4.

it looks like georg philipp schmidt’s poem was also originally published in 1821 in a collection called “gedichte.”

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/de/thumb/f/fe/wp_georg_philipp_schmidt_von_l%c3%bcbeck_2.jpg/180px-wp_georg_philipp_schmidt_von_l%c3%bcbeck_2.jpg (http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=datei:wp_georg_philipp_schmidt_von _l%c3%bcbeck_2.jpg&filetimestamp=20080303194409)
der wanderer by georg philipp schmidt von lübeck

i come from highlands down to shore,
the valleys steam, the oceans roar.
i wander silent, joyless here:
my sigh keeps asking, where? oh, where?

their sun appears to me so cold,
their blossoms limp, their life so old;
and what they speak of, empty fare:
i am a stranger everywhere.

where are you, land, beloved home?
imagined, sought, but never known!
the land, the land, whence hope does flow,
the land where all my roses grow,

where friends shall never meet in vain,
where all my dead shall rise again,
the land that speaks my language true:
oh land, where are you?...

i wander silent, joyless here,
my sigh keeps asking, where? oh where?
the specters answer my distress:
"where you are not, there's happiness."

now, while the poem doesn’t exactly speak of a triumphant awakening about the nature of self as universal love, the orchestral transcription by liszt sure does. that version was finished in 1851, 30 years later. this means wanderer awakening was released 158 years later, and we have one more year to go for this beautiful explication of our nature to become fully aligned again. this alignment, if you look at it symbolically, represents the taking of this single instrument piece that the “devil may play,” and turning it into this most stunning expression of symphonic artistry.

i originally found this on [name] but it is probably on other music services. the album i heard it on is called “liszt: piano works” by jorge bolet

yes, thank you for the link ;)

i want to say something about, of all things, music. david was discussing the 'psychic' properties of freeform jazz playing/players; to this i fully agree. to be in attendance of a performance where this kind of improvisational communication is taking place is an experience one does not easily forget. what i disagree with is that he said you don't find this kind of thing happening in rock music. not true! for this very reason, i'm now gonna fluff my favorite band of all time (and i hope the moderators will allow this small diversion): phish!

the music of phish is 5th dimensional in every way, and encapsulates just about every form or style of music there is (rock, jazz, country, bluegrass, classical, calypso, ambient etc). if there are any people here who have the ability to let the power of music transport themselves to places of awe, i highly recommend checking this band out. i think dw himself would have a thing or two to say about this band if he were to listen ;)

here's a couple of links for the musically curious/adventerous. notice the "mothership jam" that emerges out of the song proper. enjoy! :d

some other known major rock improvisers: john zorn (does many styles, rock is one of them), the mars volta (live), dave matthews band (live), zach hill, nels cline, and there are many more obscure groups starting to do this these days. they're obscure because most people don't listen to this type of music, but it's definitely one of my passions, and i play this way exclusively myself.
anyway, the reason for this post is mainly to reccommend the space-jazz artist "sun ra" as it may appeal to several on this forum. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/sun_ra
he was certainly a wanderer and played as well as spoke many brilliant things on many albums with many other amazing musicians in the free-form psychic improvisational style.

i'm not sure how much any of you know about this man, but his story is truly an inspiring one. best known for being the guitarist for the red hot chili peppers (a band he has recently quit to focus on his own solo music), he is an amazing guitarist/musician and plays with a feeling i don't see in most. he has never been into being a "rock star" like so many who reach his level of fame, and simply loves making music just to make music. as you may or may not know, he quit the chili peppers in the mid-90's and went into a very serious heroin addiction. i've seen videos of this time in his life on youtube, and there is no way you would think a man in that state could ever survive. but somehow he did. he kicked the drugs, started doing vipassana meditation and yoga, and rejoined the chili peppers, who went on to make several great albums. today he is making some of the most inspiring music i have ever heard. this track is the first from his latest solo album, "the empyrean", and it takes me places:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o651ybuny0c

in addition to being an amazing musician, he has also become quite a spiritual man, so i feel doubly inspired by him. the term "empyrean" itself means "the highest point in heaven" and there are songs on this album with names like "dark/light", "heaven", "god", "before the beginning", "after the ending", and "enough of me." not to mention a beautiful cover of tim buckley's "song to the siren." this whole album is a masterpiece, in my humble opinion, and i hope you guys check it out.

Nachie
07-04-2010, 01:23 AM
hi everybody!

my name's nachie, i'm in my mid 20's and i grew up a pretty devout atheist. a few years ago i began having what i guess you might call spiritual experiences, and found myself pulled ever more strongly into these realms. my search always seemed to begin from the standpoint. one reason david's stuff sounds so good to me is that he deals with so much scientific research, though of course the intensely positive message of his work is also a major factor! some of the other big influences on my development have been the works of bruce lipton, hank wesselman, and jeremy narby.

i don't know very much about anything having to do with ets... my primary influences have been from the shamanic traditions and in particular my experiences with the natural world itself. learning animal tracking and bird language, for instance, have been some of the most incredible experiences in my life and have opened my eyes in ways i could not possibly have foreseen. i truly recommend these practices for those seeking to expand consciousness! :)

anyway, so here's my question... i hope nobody thinks that this is an advertisement or anything like that. i'm sorry if this whole intro has been convoluted, but i really just don't know anything about how this community works and don't want to give the wrong impression, yet at the same time have for years now had an intense need to find people i could talk to about this.

my question is about a music band from minnesota called cloud cult. perhaps some of you are familiar with their music?

i don't even know how much detail i can really go into about this, so much of it defies words... suffice to say that there are elements to the music created by this group (specifically a guy named craig minowa, the creative genius behind it) that i have not seen come even close to being repeated by any other music i have ever heard. specifically, in heightened states of awareness i have had experiences in which the music of cloud cult is able to create and manipulate holographic images (from the pineal gland, i assume? these are all while eyes are closed) with a degree of detail and precision that is absolutely ridiculous. and when i say absolutely ridiculous, i do mean that it defies any and all explanation.

i don't know if i can get away with posting links here without looking like i'm just trying to advertise this band. i swear i really am just trying to find other people who can help me on this journey in figuring out what they are... because it's not "just" music. i would post links to whole album downloads off of mediafire (a new studio album just released this week, re-igniting my interest), but that might raise copyright issues. perhaps a youtube video might be appropriate:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyyhaxzkapq - this song gives one a very small window into what the music is like, and perhaps what its affects might be. the song is titled "when water comes to life" and the message being given is that we are "living water". the reason i chose to share this particular song with you is that its affect is perhaps the simplest to describe: the guitar riff *appears* to be designed in such a way as to "effervesce" the water in the human body, thus giving the listener a multi-faceted sensory knowledge of the song's meaning while the lyrics are telling you that you are made of water. as i said, this is simply the easiest affect to describe and each song appears to have so many layers of double entendre and symbolism that it staggers my imagination to believe that this is simply the work of a common musician.

what i'm looking for is anyone with knowledge of music or of how tonal harmonies, frequencies, etc. (i am not familiar with the nomenclature) may or may not affect states of consciousness. i believe firmly that craig minowa has figured out how to manipulate these things, and it just boggles my mind. has anyone else had similar experiences with this music?

i guess i should end by saying that yes, this is my favorite band. their message is intensely positive and i would recommend them to anyone looking for something truly life changing. but beyond that, i am really curious as to why this has had such an affect on my life!

thank you for reading and listening, much appreciation in advance for any responses and for the work that this community and others like it are furthering on this planet. namaste!

john frusciante's "the empyrean".

frusciante is a very spiritual person, having also gone on quite a journey of drug-addictions etc.

but he has managed to pull through and now has a very positive outlook on life.

on occasion, he talks about the "fourth-dimension" and that's how he gets his energy/creation, stating that he can pull energy from it and make it into beautiful music.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/the_empyrean

the first track of the album, before the beginning, is a testimony to the energy and talent this man has.

hi!

i was on my 'puter the other evening when something kept tugging at my right ear...i kept banging on the keys but soon my rhythm had changed to match this music pouring out from 88.1 fm -- colorado public radio. i sat back, closed my eyes to be thrilled by the luxurious other-worldly vibrations.

i discovered that the music was that of a schubert trio...the notturno (nocturne) i went looking...what was listed on the radio site was a two c.d.affair that went for $40 --ouch! not budgeted for that! however on amazon i got a factory-sealed c.d. for 93 cents!...then twice that for the postage..of course i was suspicious of the price .....did i buy some clunker vanity ego trip from three music school rejects?

i went exploring on the net...wow! i found a half-dozen groups that had done the notturno. a virtual gold mine of talent! they all had subtle differences...below is a favorite of mine in that it has over-the-top exuberance, good camera shots (one commenter wrote that the cello player was really "hot!" ...i don't know about that; actually i thought she stayed real cool; effortlessly strumming and plucking away, never cracking a smile)

if you are at this very moment not in a hurry, in fact feel laid back ... especially open to indulging yourself in sound luxury, please give it a listen.

has anyone has taken a listen to some uplifting trance, as in the sub genre of dance music? some beautiful and very uplifting music can be found there.

two that come to mind here are this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcgujijujv4
safri duo - samba adagio ( infite emotional remix )
an uplifting trance remix of a mainstream track, its barely similar to the original but its beauty more than makes up for it!

and the work of a producer called andy blueman, literally every track he has made will sooth the savage beast within, here is one for example
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhgi0cfeqly&feature=related
andy blueman florescence (intro mix)

enjoy. :)

"this is an 8 minutes video of a very subtle and disturbing performance of part of alfred schnittke's concerto for piano and strings, with svetlana ponomarëva at the piano. amazing that amidst the tension of this piece such poetic undertones can thrive."

a perceptive comment i found on youtube of this brilliant schnittke excerpt. this piece is dark but i find it certainly sums up the mood of the times for me at least...@1:32 the sun starts trying to come out for a brilliant resolution...but alas it wasn't meant to be...

charles, i heard it too (several times just to make sure) and then i realised...its just chiron. i believe chiron was the one who created an interdimensional spear and dropped it on his own foot... ouch...i have chiron in my birth chart and sometimes it pierces the soul in a very undeniable way, for me very much a work in progress. y'know if you can't stand by the sun you can always stand by me and we can wait for the sun together!http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=us-tvg40exm

thank you both, charles and gem!

charles, a timely expression of my own inner landscape. gem, yours brought tears to my eyes! i went to youtube and sought out something i was instantly reminded of, an old kicky vid that i loved and still do, lean on me, the club nouveau version:

charles, for you.

a dissected and quietly distilled storm, colours darkening and divesting of overall warmth and the moment's perceived discernment; peace wobbling, resting on a dull knife-edge of nervous sense of unease - autumn's bluish-orange tinge; and churning up from the lake bottom while down from the sky a maelstrom which roils and perturbs a new shade of greenish, darkening our playground and the horizon and expectations of past easy resolution... oh, to turn around and glimpse the patient everlasting beauty of mounting cycles which roil us; us dreamers and seekers of new colour schemes and ground-to-sky realization of all we share, once again coming home to each other and what makes us each so strong, brave, noble, gentle and supportive, even if we seem at times islands alone here; even unto each other.

thanks for the words of encouragement (and the lovely music) mark and gemlove! the allegri piece is breathtaking and was one of the first pieces that really got fascinated by ancient music, and the ravel - well ravel is my absolute favorite composer! (after bach of course - ravel is my favorite mortal composer hehe). speaking of bach here is a wonderful piece from one of bach's favorite composers, in love and light my brothers and sisters from another world.

when i was a very restless teenager, i'd bus down yonge street into toronto city core on a friday nite. there were always people to meet and adventures to be had, and situations into which i would inveigle myself which, if all worked out, would result in an always one of a kind adventure that would see me not having to go home until sunday. often i'd take myself out of circulation if things seemed too 'beyond the pale', and chill at fran's restaurant - as long as you bought coffee or a bagel once an hour they'd let you stay forever and read the paper, do the crossword or read whatever book you had in your backpack. fran's seemed to be open always.

there was often a guy there, heavily bundled up even in warm weather, with gloves and all, weird guy; occupying a back booth and always alone, big 30's style hat and dark clothing, doing much the same as i. it wasn't until many years later that i realized that the guy with whom i shared an odd askance look was glenn gould - perhaps the 20th century's greatest bach interpreter.

this is a fascinating documentary, enjoy, you guys.

mark, i had never heard of glenn gould, i was so fascinated by him i watched all 4 parts, thanks. by the way, you have a very cool writing style, maybe you could write a book!

thanks again, gem.

this thread sure is a great compilation of art, much of which was new to me. thank you everyone who added to it.

i would like to share a song i have been listening to lately by one of my favorite artists.

maynard keenan's work is sometimes a little 'heavy' for my tastes but it seems that through the years (from when i was a teen up to adult) i have been able to just escape within his music and be somewhat or more in tune with my higher self.

nature, nurture heaven and home
sum of all, and by them, driven
to conquer every mountain shown
but i've never crossed the river

braved the forests, braved the stone
braved the icy winds and fire
braved and beat them on my own
yet i'm helpless by the river

angel, angel, what have i done?
i've faced the quakes, the wind, the fire
i've conquered country, crown, and throne
why can't i cross this river?

angel, angel, what have i done?
i've faced the quakes, the wind, the fire
i've conquered country, crown, and throne
why can't i cross this river?

pay no mind to the battles you've won
it'll take a lot more than rage and muscle
open your heart and hands, my son
or you'll never make it over the river

it'll take a lot more than words and guns
a whole lot more than riches and muscle
the hands of the many must join as one
and together we'll cross the river

it'll take a lot more than words and guns
a whole lot more than riches and muscle
the hands of the many must join as one
and together we'll cross the river

(nature, nurture heaven and home)
it'll take a lot more than words and guns
(sum of all, and by them, driven)
a whole lot more than riches and muscle
(to conquer every mountain shown)
the hands of the many must join as one
and together we'll cross the river

(braved the forests, braved the stone)
it'll take a lot more than words and guns
(braved the icy winds and fire)
a whole lot more than riches and muscle
(braved and beat them on my own)
the hands of the many must join as one
and together we'll cross the river

and together we'll cross the river
and together we'll cross the river

nature, nurture heaven and home
and together we'll cross the river
and together we'll cross the river

nature, nurture heaven and home
and together we'll cross the river
and together we'll cross the river

this little girl is actually about 7 years old, mozart. something beyond argument and way beyond our propensity to guard ourselves and our sense of lack... everyone has something just as beautiful to contribute, if only we would own our individual specialness. everyone here has something just as valuable to contribute, when we see our uniqueness, and understand that we, despite our common sensing and fear of lack of talent, have a talent of individual beauty which is only hinted at, here. everyone has talent just as valuable. and beautiful. mark

Morrissey has been warning us of the state of things for quite some time. A lot of anger in his lyrics yes, but also a lot of truth, humor and genius.

"Vicar In A Tutu"

I was minding my business
Lifting some lead off
The roof of the Holy Name church
It was worthwhile living a laughable life
Just to set my eyes on a blistering sight
Of a vicar in a tutu
He's not strange
He just wants to live his life this way

A scanty bit of a thing
With a decorative ring
That wouldn't cover the head of a child
As Rose collects the money in the canister
Who comes sliding down the banister
The vicar in a tutu
He's not strange
He just wants to live his life this way

The monkish monsignor
With a head full of plaster
Said "my man, get your vile soul dry-cleaned"
As Rose counts the money in the canister
As natural as rain
He dances again
My God
Vicar in a tutu, oh yeah

The next day in the pulpit
With freedom and ease
Combating ignorance, dust and disease
As Rose counts the money in the canister
As natural as rain he dances again
And again and again
The fabric of a tutu
Any man could get used to
And I am a living sign
