hey group,

wow! the response to the science of peace download has, uh, "exceeded
expectations", to use a classic nasa-ism. i'm actually going to get a
haircut tomorrow to celebrate! (yes, i like to splurge...)

the latest article features some of the most important information i've
released yet, to help support and promote the work... definitely read it if
you haven't already!

anyway, we did have some problems with orders, and actually discovered a
fundamental flaw in our entire system that has been dogging us for many
months... but we never knew why it was happening until tonight. about 30
percent, sometimes as much as 50 percent, of our orders didn't go through...
and we now know it was from people using internet explorer and trying to pay
with their credit card directly, not with a paypal account.

here's the update i just wrote to the page, which you can get from
www.divinecosmos.com:

[problems? note 10pm, 3/15: when you try to purchase with a credit card
using internet explorer, it's not letting you go through... but you can pay
by credit card if you are using the firefox browser. if only have internet
explorer, use your paypal account and it will go through.

we will be switching to an authorize.net merchant account as of tomorrow
morning, and this will solve the problem. if you have trouble ordering, let
us know, and we will email you as soon as we do the switch -- probably
within 24 hours.]

that was one of two little "negative greetings" we had, each of which is
solvable (easily) but just requires a bit more time. here's the second:

we also only found out after a few people ordered that the first few
downloads had been corrupted from our having moved the server. that problem
has been fixed, and those who were affected by it have had their download
links reset. so, if you go back to the original email you received, and
click on that link (if you had problems,) then you will now be able to get
fully functional version of the zip file.

it's really important that we discovered all this before i get back on
coast, where it would have become a much worse problem than it is now -
probably hundreds of emails of complaints rather than the four we received.

tomorrow i'm going to get back on a merchant services account - i've already
had two over the course of running my business, at least - and that will
allow people to order without being redirected off the site. for whatever
reason, paypal is just too buggy for us to keep using it at this point. some
people won't miss it, i'm sure...

i was supposed to be working on the climate change article today, but got
all caught up in writing instead... but it paid off! do check it out...

peace be with you -
