a holy trinity is a triad of three independent elements
combined to form a strong harmony. these triads surround us,
and they can make us feel good.

for years painters have understood the power of triads.
these colors are commonly disguised within tints and tones,
semi-neutral grays, or shifted slightly in analogous hues.
a trained eye can see these and reduce the harmony to its
fundamental components.

other triads exist. when i was a kid, i was disciplined to
practice piano. part of this was learning all of the scales
and the corresponding three key cord sets that accompany them.
these triad cords are harmonies. as i look back on them,
they are basically 3 sets of 3 notes, combined 3 different ways
within an octave. for example, in the scale of c, the note
sets are c-e-g, c-f-a, and d-g-b.
these cord sets when converted to russell's generic scale
correspond to sets containing 3 forces, 1 force, and no forces.
(i like to think the phi spiral shaped cochlea organ of our
ear helps to make the phi harmonic conversions giving us a
sensation of love.)

this reminds me of another study made by edgar whitney.
he's the one who shared the 8 principles of design.
he looked at numerous grand-master paintings and broke
their value patterns into 3 shades: dark, medium, and light.
he discovered that these patterns were interlocked in some
organized way, and also that the areas were not distributed
equally, but had a "momma, poppa, baby" distribution.
colorists use this principle of distribution. (i like to
think this distribution helps us make a phi conversion.)

this complements russell's idea of a quantum triad containing
a proton, neutron, and electron. this could also support a
quantum field triad containing electric, magnetic, and
gravity vector components.

it's also interesting to me that the basis of the i-ching is
the trigram, or three line sets. when you consider the
powerful harmonics possible, it is not unreasonable to imagine
trigram triads...a "holy trinity of trigrams."
