i know exactly how you feel, seth. i too wish that
people would come to their senses and realize how
manipulated they are by their blind patriotism.
i am so tired of seeing "united we stand" everywhere i
look. what does *that* mean???? to me, it means, "as
long as we stand united with what the gov't does,
we'll be ok." well i'm sorry, that may be what the
gov't is about, as it falls over itself to condone
everything our president does, but it is *not* what
america is about. maybe i'm misinterpreting that
phrase, but it reeks of propaganda to me. what is it
with these 3 word phrases, like "remember the maine!"
and "just say no!"? sheesh.
but that isn't why i wanted to reply, seth. i did
want to let you know that there *are* others that feel
as you do. but i also am finding that, as we slide
down the slippery slope that this whole "war on
terrorism" is, it is becoming easier to contemplate
cutting my bonds with all the material and 3d things
that i depend upon. i am pretty active politically,
but with the degradation of the situation in this
country, it has become easier for me to set my sights
on the world to come instead and let go of my
attachment to the 3d drama. these troubled times are
a test, and instead of focusing on how we as a nation
should react, it would be much better to focus on how
*you* should react. at least that is what i have
gathered from this whole mess so far.
ra says that a distrust and opposition to the gov't is
healthy at first, but eventually we move beyond that
and start to recognize what a catalyzing effect such a
large and sts entity as a gov't can have in our
personal development. i *think* i'm starting to
understand that... but i still need some work on
integrating a more patient, detatched component into
my personality.
take care y'all,
jeremy
