hi all,

further to my previous posts on the tarot i would just like to share
some further thoughts i've had.

you may remember i received a warning a few weeks ago from my mother
that the tarot is to be avoided as it is dangerous. well, i'm always
one to heed what people say, so i decided to leave the tarot deck
alone for a while (it's my philosophy that if every person on this
planet is `one' then you really should listen to yourself!)

one night i was having difficulties sleeping. basically i'd got into
the habit of going to bed at 3am during my week off work. i was
trying to force myself back into my normal sleeping patterns as it
was sunday and i had work the next day. however, by 1:30am i was
still awake! :)
anyway, during this period of trying to get to sleep, i was in deep
introspective thought.

glancing at the tarot deck beside my bed, i started to think about
it. what could the danger be that my mother warned me about? as far
as she is concerned (having christian beliefs) it is a path to
destruction. what could cause destruction?
i started to consider this from the `you create your own reality'
perspective. what would cause me to create destruction in my reality?
fear perhaps?

then i thought, well, fear is a form of focus. it's a `technique' for
concentrating on something. if you fear something you tend to worry
about it. when you worry its difficult to think about anything else.
therefore you are intensely focusing on something and possibly
manifesting it in your life.

so:

fear-->focus

focus-->creation

therefore:

fear-->creation

this seems pretty obvious i know, and to be honest i think i knew
that already. however, it was so crystal clear to me at that time
that it was very exciting.

if i draw a card from the tarot deck and it turns out to be the oh-so-
clichãƒâƒã‚âƒãƒâ‚ã‚âƒãƒâƒã‚â‚ãƒâ‚ã‚âƒãƒâƒã‚âƒãƒâ‚ã ‚â‚ãƒâƒã‚â‚ãƒâ‚ã‚âƒãƒâƒã‚âƒãƒâ‚ã‚âƒãƒâƒã‚â‚ãƒâ‚ã‚â ‚ãƒâƒã‚âƒãƒâ‚ã‚â‚ãƒâƒã‚â‚ãƒâ‚ã‚â©d `death' card, i could then start fearing death occurring in
my life. by fearing it i am focusing on it and as such there's a
chance i could create it. so basically fear is a crap method of
creating your reality! :)

(whilst writing this i did have a further thought however: why is it
sometimes you spend all day fretting about something going wrong the
next day, but when the next day arrives, everything turns out fine?
where are the `boundaries of creation' here?)

the final thought that made me drift off to sleep was that i was in a
sea. that is, a gigantic sea of possibility.
i held the tarot card deck in my hands and found myself thinking the
cards were a `map of possibilities'. if i could just figure out how
they fit together and what each one meant, i could use them as a tool
to `navigate' the sea of possibilities. they would become a great
system of self-study and help cure `creator's block'!

anyways, any thoughts on all of this would be warmly welcome. just
figured i'd share some of my mind around! :)

peace, love and learning.

christian warnings against the tarot are based on biblical
warnings against divination, which is how tarot is often used.
divination is a problem because it is based on fear of the future
instead of trusting in the one. but tarot is also a part of the one
and should not be feared.

your desire to use the tarot to increase creativity and
possibilities seems like a more valid usage.

i would add to this, that 'fortune telling' is often based on greed
and control. there is a huge difference between using the tarot for
exploring the self and understanding influences, vs using it to
'predict' the future. such predictions do not take into account free will.

since you mentioned christian warnings, i might also add that
christians generally would not approve of the loo books at all! people
tend to fear that which they do not understand.
