Hello Group!
As I am german and english ist not my native language, I am a bit confused of
Ra`s use of
the word "distortion". Those of Ra use it quite frequently in different
meanings. My
dictionary translates "distortions" with a word similar to the meaning of
"disturbed".
What other synonyms are there for this word, so I can grasp the different
meanings better?
e.g. when Ra talks about "the first distortion of the law of one" or from page
71 of "The Ra
material" LoO book 1: "...this mind/body/spirit complex received our
communication
distortions and was able to blend his distortions with our own." "this
distortion called
'Aten', was a close distortion to our reality as we understand our own
mind/body/spirit
complex distortion"
Any ideas about related synonyms for "distortion"?

Hey Lotta,
Here's a definition that might help:
Distort - alter the form or character of something
In interpreting the LOO material I understand it this
way - in the beginning there was God. God was
everything there was and there was nothing that was
not God. God was a conscious divinity composed
entirely of energy (a very simplified description).
God formed all of creation from the only material he
had to work with - himself. Therefore everything that
exists is in essence a distortion of God. (and still a
part of God)
Ra indicates that creation became manifest as a result
of three primal distortions - or changes in form - the
first distortion was consciousness or free will, the
second distortion was love, the third distortion
resulted from consciousness acting on love to create
light, which is the fundamental constituent of all
matter.
Ra frequently refers to free will as the first
distortion. They also refer to individual
conscionsnesses (you and I for example) as
mind/body/spirit complex distortions. In my mind Ra's
use of this word confirms the unity of all.
Hope this helps, and I'd love to hear other thoughts
on this.
Elmer

Our body is a three-dimensional virtual image (hologram) formed by wave
interference patterns in our mind--our self-image. The microtubules (within our
cells) may act like fiber optic waveguides for the transmission of light waves
through us. If so, it is quite likely that our body is a creation of holographic
thought processes--a psychic hologram--and we self-organize based on the image
we have of ourself in our mind. Whatever the mechanism responsible for
communication by rapport, it is apparent that it involves factors outside our
normal concepts of space/time dimensions. The factors responsible for
establishing rapport are seen to lie outside the known dimensions of space,
time, and electromagnetism, although various electromagnetic energies can
influence rapport. Two independently vibrating systems can exert a mutual
influence upon each other which tends to make them more alike. Once a sympathy
or likeness of cerebral vibrations is established, a kind of sympathetic
cerebral stimulation is possible.

Elmer has summed it up really but I couldn't resist adding a few
thoughts of my own! :D
A distortion effect pedal for your guitar takes a 'clean' guitar
sound and turns it into a 'dirty' sound. Or at least, a 'different'
sound to the original clean sound.
Thus a distortion is anything that is not 'Pure God', to coin a
phrase. It's a distorted sound made out of the original clean signal
(to refer to above analogy). So basically, its anything that God has
created out of itself. Anything 'seperate' from God.
A 'similar distortion' would be two things seperate from God that
could be considered similar to each other.
Hope this helps

Hello Lotta
What a great question. Here are some meanings of distortion
pull or twist out of shape : a grimace distorted her fine mouth | [as
adj. ] ( distorted) his face was distorted with rage.
? [ intrans. ] become twisted out of shape : the pipe will distort as
you bend it.
? figurative give a misleading or false account or impression of :
many factors can distort the results | [as adj. ] ( distorted) his
report gives a distorted view of the meeting.
? change the form of (an electrical signal or sound wave) during
transmission, amplification, or other processing : you're distorting
the sound by overdriving the amp.
ORIGIN late 15th cent.(in the sense [twist to one side] ): from Latin
distort- ?twisted apart,? from the verb distorquere, from dis-
?apart? + torquere ?to twist.?
So distortion seems to mean that something has been twisted apart
from some original state. The greater the distortion the more twisted
from the original. In this case the original state is the law of One,
but as All is One, then even distortion is part of the One. So that
gets a bit paradoxical!
The other thing I thought about is who is doing the distorting?

Elmer & All,
I love the essence of your description. The vibrations resonate with
even greater energy & force, if i replace every "was" with "is". How
does changing it like that feel to you?
peace & love, pi

Perhaps this is where my thoughts aren't clear, but doesn't the LoO
material (among others) say that there is no separation between God and
all that is since everything essentially is God?

wow, thank you guys! Now I think I grasped the meaning of "distortion".
I think it`s really wise of Ra to use it in this term, because it allways
implies the Oneness
of all while expressing the separation that we are experiencing.
This way Ra`s words speak to us on different levels of perception. Wow, I am
astonished!
Thanks again

Hello Lotta,
David is explaining the meaning of the word distortion in his RA Material /
Law of One study guide:
http://ascension2000.com/Ra-section1.htm on page 1.
I hope this helps you.

Jake:
Yeah, sorry, I probably wasn't very clear there. You are correct in
saying there is no seperation between God and all that is since
everything essentially is God.
I would have to mention that in regards to my guitar analogy,
the 'distorted' signal that comes out the other end of the effects
pedal is not seperate from God, but just an 'altered' version of the
original signal. So there is no actual seperation.
When I used the word 'seperate' I put it in inverted commas. I was
trying to imply by these inverted commas that nothing is really
seperate, just 'could-be-perceived-as' from some perspective. Sorry I
wasn't very clear there, cheers for picking up on it John.
