Hey everyone,
Am here listening to some pieces of music which as at other times, I'm
currently finding really uplifting/empowering...I thought I'd list a few of
these, if anyone's interested.
In Time, by Robbie Robb (from the soundtrack of Bill and Ted's Excellent
Adventure)
The Touch, by Vince DeCola (from the soundtrack of Transformers: The Movie)
Dare, by Stan Bush (from the soundtrack of Transformers: The Movie)
The theme from Star Trek: First Contact
Samwise the Brave (from the soundtrack of The Lord of the Rings: The Two
Towers)
Current of Love, by David Hasselhoff (I'll probably get some virtual
tomatoes thrown at me for this one, but it's a good song ;-))
Better Times, by the Black Sorrows
Faith of the Heart, by Russell Watson (the theme of Star Trek: Enterprise)
Send Me On My Way, by Rusted Root
I'll Be There, by the Escape Club
A Place Called Home, by Kim Richey (This one tends to remind me of Carla and
her writings about Wanderers)
Put a Little Love in Your Heart, by Annie Lennox and Al Green
Time for Change, by Motley Crue
Man in the Mirror, by Michael Jackson
You Get what You Give, by New Radicals
Hallelujah, by Rufus Wainwright
Affirmation, by Savage Garden
Rock a Bye, by Shawn Mullins
Love of the Common People, by Paul Young
Rocket Man, by Elton John (this one reminds me of Terri Schiavo, for some
inexplicable reason)

OK you asked for it, here is your virtual
tomato.......
Splooosh....an old rotten one, sorry, you asked for
it. David Hasselhoff? Never heard his music -- never
will!!! He is the embodyment of pure evil.

You've got some great tunes listed here, particularly these:
Send Me On My Way, by Rusted Root
I'll Be There, by the Escape Club
You Get what You Give, by New Radicals
Hallelujah, by Rufus Wainwright
Rocket Man, by Elton John
But David Hasselhoff?! LOL! :) Sorry...
How about trying Speed of Sound by Cold Play, Hallelujah by Martin
Sexton, Return to Innocence by Enigma or Change by Tracy Chapman....

No, he actually isn't.
As horrible as this might initially sound, during a period in the late
80s/early 90s when my parents' marriage was on the rocks, congregating in
front of the TV for episodes of Baywatch on a Sunday night was one of the
primary things which held my immediate family together...it was actually the
only point of commonality/communal focus which we had at the time, and thus
gave us a point where we were able to come together for an hour without our
usual conflict.
The other thing is that the show actually surprised me at times with it's
degree of subtle, but genuine positivity. Although it's true that the main
characters were culturally faily insular, one of the main things which
happened in various episodes was the act of somebody coming temporarily into
their sphere who normally wouldn't exist there at all. The regular
characters also were not like the jocks from the Revenge of the Nerds movies
either, in the sense that when they encountered someone who was from outside
their reality, they were not hostile towards them...they were friendly, and
at times compassionate. Hasselhoff might be/have been nauseating in other
respects, (namely his egotism and being a member of the method school of
acting) but his character in the show, Mitch, was actually highly STO in his
own way (that is, relative to the lifesaver context). Since Hasselhoff had
a fairly high degree of influence over the show's direction, (he was one of
the initial creators of it, from memory) I'm also assuming that he would
have had at least some responsibility.
I'm not going to claim that the show was in every respect a paragon of
positivity, or even maturity. It was the starting point for a number of
female models, and there were in most episodes the slow motion montages etc
glorifying the physical characteristics of several of them. Hence, it would
not be unfair to call the show shallow and immature in a lot of ways. But
as I said earlier, the degree of subtle but genuinely positive ideas that
managed to creep in often did surprise me, and being an executive producer
I'm assuming that Hasselhoff himself would have had a hand in that.

Shalom Family,
I find Liquid Mind by Chuck Wild to be great for meditation.
