I am re-reading Book 1, and there is a reference to pyramids in South
America. I remember when I read it b4, I assumed Ra meant the pyramids
in Mexico and Central America which were used (abused?) in the Aztec
and Incan civiliations. But now I notice Ra mentions the Amazon River.
To my knowledge, there are no pyramids in South America near the
Amazon. (I am not very geographically literate, btw.)

Can anyone clear this up?

Pyramids have been found in the Andes of Peru which is not far from many rivers
that branch off from the
Amazon. The quote from Ra says "along the South American ways you call in part
the Amazon River". The
key here is "in part" which means he is not talking about just the Amazon River
specifically. HTH, Dave

Ah, thanks, that explains it. I just did a search (should have done
that first) and found this - has some interesting info, some of which
fits in very nicely with Ra's account in Book 1:

(excerpt):

According to Tatunca Nara, the tale of Akakor was recorded in a tribal
book ...
<snip>
...Before the year zero, men lived like animals, without laws, without
clothing..." and that the Great Masters brought "the light"...<snip>
"...glimmering golden ships appeared in the sky. Enormous blasts of
fire illuminated the plain. The earth shook and thunder echoed over
the hills."

The strangers in the golden ships looked like humans with fine
features - white skin, bluish-black hair and thick beards. "They (the
Ugha Mongulala tribe) had no tools as they did, which, as if by magic,
suspended the heaviest stones, flung lightning, and melted rocks."
These strangers civilized the tribe and built three great cities of
stone called: Akanis, Akakor, and Akahim.
