I was there in 1987. They had a fence around it but they let us in
since we were part of a spiritual pilgrimmage. We did a ritual there
and I felt a strong energy. I was astounded at the magnitude of the
stones - they are much larger than I'd thought.
However, to be honest I did not seem to resonate with Stonehenge as
much as I'd imagined. I'm not sure if it was because of the
commercialization of the site or what, but I personally had more
powerful experiences at some of the other, less well-known sacred
sites we visited, such as Glastonbury Tor, Silbury Hill, and the stone
circles at Callanish.
We were at Callanish on a night in which the Moon 'walks across the
earth' that occurs only once every 17 years. We saw her make her way
across the horizon, then at the appointed time fit perfectly into the
slot left open in the stones. On this night I saw a dragon in the sky,
made up of clouds, but it was NOT like the usual 'oh that looks like
a...' - it truly was a dragon in exquisite detail, and I felt an
elemental energy simply using the clouds to physically manifest. This
only lasted about a minute and no one else in our group witnessed it,
but to me it was a very real experience.
Each stone at Callanish, according to lore, houses the spirit of a
Druid. This did seem to be true - each stone had a personality and
often a face.
Glastonbury Abbey had what felt to be portals that activated the
chakras. I felt this on a physical level. Glastonbury Tor was
extremely intense, as was Silbury Hill. Mother Goddess Earth felt much
more alive to me at these sacred sites.
