"we can understand duality by experiencing the union of the two
worlds we live in - material and spiritual. the difference between
temporal contradictions and the compensatory polarity is in the
circular possibilities that come from the eight trigrams, the eight
states of change....the latter arrangement of the trigrams of heaven
by king-wen refers to the world of senses...in this configuration,
the polarity of light and darkness in the trigrams is maintained in
fire and water, referring to the alchemical formula that
photosynthesis endows matter with animated life when the light of the
spirit (fire) penetrates the water and nourishes it with life and
sensations...we enter into temporal contradictions due to the natural
resistance each element has according to its rhythm and speed of
change...in movement, as we focus attention on the objects and
obstacles of material life, we lose the purpose and essential
inspiration of the mind in contact with heaven...visually, this is
evident from the position of the trigrams..."

also, from the introduction:
"the purpose of transpersonal psychology is to help lift us out of
the anarchic mire of parochial, ego-obsessed thought and culture into
the light of higher possibilities. because the i-ching corresponds
to the structure and order of dna, it is one of the few earthly
touchstones upon which we can base the possibility of galactic
culture. (galactic culture is the universal stream of being, capable
of infinite forms of expression and infinite levels of attainment.
galactic culture is to the earth plane what light is to color.)
in this way, the i-ching has crossed the great water of time and
history to become a key transpersonal tool."
