i just read on the string cheese incident list (a bluegrassy jamband
from colorado) that they have asked their fans publicly at a show
to learn about the "upcoming ascension of conciousness" before 2012...
(!!!)
this is a band with a huge following. they routinely play amphitheaters
that hold 15,000+ people. they have a hugely dedicated fan base that
follows them around all over the country.
this is big news for proponents of ascension...this means that thousands
of intelligent kids across the country are being introduced to these
ideas, totally independent of us.
i've been trying to convince everyone i know that the jamband phenomenon
and ascension are tied into the same ideas...i'm glad that other bands
besides my own (that are actually hugely commercially successful) are
starting to live by these ideas and educate their fanbases.
if anyone is interested in them, check out:

i would be very interested to hear what others think about a musical
accompaniment to asc2k material. spacey improv would definately fit, but i
could also see some more dramatic, melodic themes in there, too. just
thinking about the musical possibilities is enough to make me drool.
the only problem i see is the fact that any time you bring in a
culturally charged element like music, you run the risk of alienating people
for the wrong reasons. i mean, i think improv music is the greatest, but
there are definately some that are not as open to it... and rejecting the
whole package for that reason would be unfortunate. it's probably not too
big of a deal, though; really stubborn minds will reject the material before
the music...
i am chomping at the bit for david wilcock band tour 2002. ;-)
later,
jeremy
