presentation of myself

hello,

within this group i am a new member and like to introduce myself. i
am hans winkelaar, male, 44 years of age, and i like astronomy since
i was 12.

to sponsor my expensive hobby (i like big telescopes) i do some
trading in optical articles. for hobby i do a lot of telescope
building and like to discuss with others about several issues within
astronomical aspects. as an example i developed the rainpipe
refractor technique, to prove that it is possible to build a "low
budget" telescope with acceptable quality out of a pvc rainpipe,
using a good achromat.

since i have not a private website, i will upload a picture of me and
my telescope soon. i do al lot of promoting astronomy and try to
motivate people to build their own telescope.

within the netherlands where i live, i do some instruction every
month to a group of interested astronomers who like to learn about
self building telescopes, and also collecting astronomy related
items, like meteorites, nasa-items, fossils, etc.

the fact that i live in the netherlands and that i join foreign
groups is the result of my interest in world-wide cultures and the
astronomy is a good basis for that, because we look together from our
earth towards foreign worlds.
