dear sandy,

thank you so much for such a consider response. more importantly i am so
pleased that you took my thoughts in the positive light that they were
given. i thought you may enjoy this quote by dr mansukh patel from his book
called "the secret power of light". it is a bit of wisdom past on by his
father.

(dad was talking to me today about the fact that a flame is so fragile that
even the slightest breeze can blow it out. but the same breeze can urge the
small flame to grow into a huge blaze that nothing can extinguish. and we
all have a flame within us that can either be blown out by life's
difficulties or strengthened by them. and those who strengthen their spirit
through prayer and meditation will not allow the obstacles they meet to get
in their way. in fact, quite the opposite is true - they are stimulated by
such situations. gandhi, for instance, took every adversity and turned it
into a triumph, not only for himself but for the whole of india. it is up to
each of us to feed that flame, no matter how small it may be, until it
becomes an eternal fire that can never be put out.

dad's advice on how to make your inner flame strong was not to expose
yourself to draughts! in other words, lead a disciplined life. once you make
your own flame strong, he would say, you become capable of lighting other
flames and spreading the light all over the world.)

the struggle between light and dark seems to me to be of the up most
importance to appreciate. personally i have had two friends seemingly on the
spiritual path attempt suicide in the last year. so i hope you understand
why i do not take this subject lightly. in the book "edgar cayce on
atlantis" it seems that two separate groups were prevalent, with the most
significant division apparent between them in the last days of atlantis. the
two groups were "the sons of belial" and "the sons of the law of one". put
simply, the sons of belial pursued materialism it its various forms, the
sons of the law of one followed the spiritual path. to my mind this battle
is once again coming to the fore. it would be interesting to know the exact
date of the atlantean demise. on a rough estimate it would seem that we are
close to a half processional cycle from that event. for those who care to
observe materialism and spiritualism in our world today, it seems also to be
following a similar path to those reported in the book. lets hope that more
light is shed on the outcome this time round. i for one am attempting to
shed light on these issues.

finally sandy i would like to let you know that i really appreciated the
story about the buddhist monks. i have the privilege to sponsor a young
tibetan lama (tulku/rinpoche) who recently escaped from tibet. i am also
involved in a project to assist one of the monasteries in exile that they
have set up in southern india that is not well known. specifically, our
little group is looking into various sanitation problems, this has resulted
in the death of many monks due to health problems such as tb. they simply do
not have the money to rectify the problems. i do not know if you have had
the opportunity to meet a tibetan monk, but if you do, you will find they
are the most incredible ambassadors of the light.

cheers,

mawk
