there's a documentary talking about the soon-to-come magnetic pole

just had a look on the station's website but there's nothing up at
the moment - www.channel4.com
basically it started off talking about a dramatic decrease in the
earth's magnetic field - 10% over the past 300 years - and then they
spoke about how you could trace the strength of the field by
analysing historical pottery so they traced it way back - about
5,000 years i think - it looked pretty stable for a while then a big
increase followed by the 300 year sharp decrease.
then they went on to magnetic field simulations and how a magnetic
flip is always preceeded by a decrease in field strength when
hotspots of +ve charged areas appears in the predominently -ve
areas. then spoke about how this is already happening and that we
are due for a magnetic flip soon although they can't predict when
this will happen.
then spoke about the implications - that it takes a good few hundred
years for it all to settle down during which time earth will not be
protected from the effects of solar winds. consequences seem to be
that a few more thousand people will get cancer every year but we'll
all be able to see the northern lights nearly every night - kind of
copped out at the end i thought! had quite a few scientists talking
about how cool it would be to see aurora borialis from london...
overall it was really interesting - even better that it was on prime
time mainstream tv!

also with regard to the state of the earths mangetic poles, check out
this web site, i haven't been here in a while but it show some
interesting information about the drift of the north magnetic pole.
consider how much movement has occured in the last 10 years as
compared to the last 100.
even when all this is occuring, we see increasing occurances of
aurora's. something is indeed happening.

it's my belief that all these are indicators of an iminent magnetic
pole shift.
