chris. i would love to see the pictures of the ducks! here is some info, that
you can take or leave!

duck: wealth. plenty.

affectionate and community oriented duck medicine people love and are loved
deeply. they often feel a great need to be of service and make excellent
healers. because the coloring of ones personal duck is symbolic, healing with
color can be beneficial.

ducks are graceful as they glide through the water reminding us to be gentle
with ourselves as we heal, learn and grow into our perfected self.

althought the doves are gone! i thought you might find this interesting:

when dove appears it is asking us to go within and release our emotional
discord, be it of the past or the present. it assists us in releasing trauma
stored within our cellular memory. humming can aid in this release.

doves hold the energy of promise. when inner turmoil is cleared from our
thoughts, words and feelings, the possibility of good fortune awaits us. in
order to receive the gifts the doves bestows on us healing on all levels is
paramount.

i find it interesting that some almost pure white doves were hanging out in
my backyard for a couple days during a time i was undergoing a very unusual
period of turmoil/sensitivity. for some reason i was very easily drawn to
tears and the simplest of things would well up within me very powerful
emotions. i remember looking at my children play and have fun and the beauty
of them and the thoughts of how blessed i am to be their dad and yet there
was also a sadness i don't quite understand. i'm still pretty puzzled about
it. at length i had to suppress it back down and go on with life as usual.

could the appearance of the doves be tied to this phase i went through? was
there some kind of a release that all this facilitated? why is it i still
feel as though i'm the same 'fallen' self prone to the weaknesses and
tendencies of impatience with and dominance of my children. for some time i
have been longing for a breakthrough in this area of my life. i'm getting
more and more clear all the time just how 'fallen' my nature is, is this
merely a stage of my escape? were the doves here to help and did i receive
them or reject them? how would i know?

in particular, is this some sort of a milestone in my ascension process and
might i know by this roughly where i'm at in the process?

thanks for all thoughts and comments. inquire for more details from me if
you like.

hi there jason,
i have added my thoughts to your email.....

i find it interesting that some almost pure white doves were hanging out in
my backyard for a couple days during a time i was undergoing a very unusual
period of turmoil/sensitivity.

--did you know that bodily/spiritual detoxification leads to these symptoms?

could the appearance of the doves be tied to this phase i went through?

--yes it could......

was there some kind of a release that all this facilitated?

--probably awareness/awakening was facilitated.

why is it i still feel as though i'm the same 'fallen' self prone to the
weaknesses and tendencies of impatience with and dominance of my children. for
some time i have been longing for a breakthrough in this area of my life. i'm
getting more and more clear all the time just how 'fallen' my nature is, is this
merely a stage of my escape?

--it takes a lot of guts to have an honest look within oneself, because not
everything you will see will be pleasant. i think it was designed to be tough,
make man strong! also remember to honour and be grateful for the pleasant things
you find. :-)

were the doves here to help and did i receive them or reject them? how would i
know?

--perhaps merely pondering the event directs you to a degree of sucess!

i hope i have been able to help.

with kind regards,
susan

warning however! it appears that frequent memory recall has it's down
side......i remember the 'flow' discussion that was posted in this group
earlier: maybe (to open) a space for the 'flow' equals love?

duck-lovers,

chris' lovely duck story reminds me of my own.

last year, when i was doing a land-clearing project along a
lovely small trout stream pulverizing the invasive
blackberries and dropping/trimming understory/over-crowded
trees along the stream, i was running my bush-basher [really
a brush-cutter, but i call it a "bush-basher" for obvious
reasons ;-) ] , i was startled to see a mamma mallard
sitting not more than six feet from where the blade of my
noisy gas-powered machine while it was busy throwing bits
and pieces of blackberries all over the place. whoa.

so i immediately stopped the machine and backed off. i
crept up close and mamma mallard did not move a bit, not
even a wink--"smart girl", i thought. i had no desire to
disturb an evidently nesting duck, so i got some branches
from some of the already-dropped trees and piled them up
carefully near mama mallard in a v-shape, leaving the open
end towards the creek for her protection. she still did not
move a bit during all the branch-piling fracas, but i could
see the near-panic and fear in her eyes.

then i continued my work while watching for any movement on
her part. later on i saw papa mallard swimming up the
creek, evidently quacking a bit (i wear protective ear muffs
to save what little hearing that i had, so i had to read the
duck's "lips", so to speak) and mama mallard got up, pushed
a few bits of tall grass over the nest of eggs (nine eggs,
would you believe, no kidding) and waddled over to join him.
by then i had shut down my machine and was having fun
watching them--beats any pbs nature show. mama and papa
mallard did a bit of quiet quacking, pecking/necking and
swimming about, then went downstream for some fun, i guess.
they did that every afternoon like clockwork--otherwise,
mama mallard was on the nest the rest of the time.

after two weeks (well after i was already done with most of
the work) i came back to see the eggs broken, but evidently
hatched, so i was pleased with that. later on that day, i
spotted mama mallard swimming in the creek with 9 cutest
little ducklings in tow. darlings! at that moment, i felt
a deep connection with them and was very glad that i had
chosen to run only 100% veggie oil to lubricate my chainsaw
bar, as opposed to most guy lubricating their bars with
petro oil, which, had i used that instead of the organic
veggie oil, i would have seriously polluted the creek and
would have caused the petro oil to stick to the feathers of
the ducks as they swam the creek. they like to go along the
edges of the creek where there's bio-mass and there was a
lot of fresh bio-mass along the creek, along with the
evident veggie oil.

i knew from previous experience in observing petro oil in
rain puddles what petro oil did, hence i had switched to
organic veggie oil (in streamsides, it's 100% veggie oil;
away from sensitive wetland environments, i have to mix in
12.5% high-detergent diesel motor oil so that the veggie oil
would not gunk up my saws, as i had spent a few hundred
bucks in repairing my saws from running only 100% veggie
oil, so had to do something without going 100% petro).

ducks are way cool, as are all of nature's
creatures--mosquitos, gnats and flies excepted, of course.
;-)

they look very vulnerable, are they safe from cats?
i've been trying to figure out the duck symbolism
here. have you seen this page, on druids and shamans?

http://www.keltria.org/journal/feather.htm

i liked this because it mentions triadic
teachings. also, this blip on mallard ducks:

"another description of the tugen or feathered cloak traditionally
worn by irish poets is found in cormac's glossary: "made of the skins
of birds, white and many-colored from the girdle downwards, and of
mallard's necks and crests from the girdle upwards." such a cloak,
containing the luminescent green, blue and purple feathers of the
neck of a mallard duck, would have been a stunning and powerful
emblem of mysticism and knowledge."

so, is that the idea? a duck farm for cloaks, chris? pat

chris: well, here is what serenidade wrote to me in one of her posts about
what ducks symbolize:

"duck: wealth. plenty.
affectionate and community oriented duck medicine people love and are loved
deeply. they often feel a great need to be of service and make excellent
healers. because the coloring of ones personal duck is symbolic, healing

chris: now, here is an update on the ducks. yesterday (saturday) at 2 pm,
our momma decided it was time to leave the nest, so she coaxed all 10 out
(when they jumped onto the grass, they bounced 'ping'! and rolled-so cute).
then she had them follow her 4 houses down from us where there is a small
stream. i have photos of this in the album "springtime" on asc2k. i tried to
move all the bird pics into that folder, but couldn't, so anyone who knows
how to do this is welcome to give me pointers :). i added 2 pics of mom and
babies still at the nest, then one of their trek to the stream and one of
them in the water.
