I know where you're coming from, Pi - a man who put his Family on
the line for a carburettor would be very
brave/selfish/uncaring/strong? - I don't quite know which.

However, the examples you quote are more or less pre-Internet,
and I do believe Andrew has a point. In this day and age, you
could broadcast DIY instructions for a simple device on a hundred
websites in a night: the spooks couldn't shut 'em all down.
There'd be an army of supporting hacks duplicating the sites
faster than they could be pulled.

OK I know the more complicated ideas may be difficult, but if the
principle was established in the public domain, the fog would
soon be no thicker than the mist surrounding 911, the Iraq war,
AIDS, H5N1 etc. etc.

Love.

I applaud your optimism! But the structure & balance of politics,
media & finance in this day & age is a mutated form very similar to
pre-Internet.
Here's a recent example of media bias (against ethanol gas). When the
article appeared, tests of ethanol & unleaded gas showed equal mpg.
Ethanol's much cleaner than unleaded gas & 56 cents cheaper per gal.

"As I watched the nightly news on CNN, I was surprised to hear the
talking heads advise viewers not to buy ethanol-blended gasoline
because it would reduce their mileage.
As 1,000 people from across the nation attended the ethanol
conference at the Qwest Center, The Omaha World Herald's lead
editorial warned readers to avoid ethanol blended gas because it
could damage their cars and reduce their mileage."

i do not care to use further fear-based reports of death & sabotage
to influence one's choice. Instead, i'll wear blinders to block the
potential impact.

Optimism like yours is a must, for it'll take vision of new activity
in many areas related to energy inventions & production before mass
consciousness will be supportive to creation of new sources & systems
for producing cheap energy.

It also will take persistence in the resolve to struggle to change.

"It also will take persistence in the resolve to struggle to change.

peace & love, pi"

May we go with the flow,
surrender to grace,
while gently resisting

those destructive forces
which would harm, which would block
free will, shared light.

May we quench misunderstanding
and fear that cause greed, great need,
with the radiance of truth.

Thy will be done;
we are one -
in service to love.
