To begin to master the concept of mental disciplines it is necessary to examine
the self. The polarity of your dimension must be internalized. Where you find
patience within your mind you must consciously find the corresponding impatience
and vice versa. Each thought a being has, has in its turn an antithesis. The
disciplines of the mind involve, first of all, identifying both those things of
which you approve and those things of which you disapprove within yourself, and
then balancing each and every positive and negative charge with its equal. The
mind contains all things. Therefore, you must discover this completeness within
yourself.

So...in thinking of this it would seem it is much easier to balance negative
emotions...they are obvious...i have a flash of frustration and anxiousness and
can consciously balance that with peace and love...

But what seems harder to do...and thus my whole struggle at integrating the
shadow self...is to feel love and is it then necessary to balance that with
fear??

or maybe that is an extreme example...but to say feel peace but draw up its
antithesis?
or is the object not to necessarily entertain the negative but to recognize that
it could be there?

I would think that the opposite emotion in regards to the way one was polarized
would be the easier to balance. In other words, you are STO, so negative
emotions would be easier for you to balance. Just as a negative person could
balance positive emotions more easily. However, being negatively oriented, why
would anyone want to balance anyways? Imbalance seems a much more preferable way
for a negative person to stay. So, do we ever see negative people trying to do
this? Balance that is :)Maybe balance is just a product of being positive? Chris
