Synchronicity strikes again.

I have just started reading "The Initiate in the New World" by Cyril
Scott. On page 13 I found this passage:

"Tonight I am going to speak of practically the greatest obstacle to
occult Wisdom" ? he used the term Yog Vidya ? "spiritual attainment
and mystical progress. That obstacle is Coventionality in whatever
form it may take, be it in relation to morals or religion. The New
Testament writers portrayed the Pharisees as its most typical
adherents, and Jesus is reported to have said that the harlots were
nearer the kingdom of Heaven than these Pharisees ? which, allowing
for Oriental hyperbole, is in accordance with fact. If we look at the
mental bodies of very conventional people we find their outlines hard
and rigid, and the bodies themselves small and, as it were,
undernourished. When we try to impress these bodies with our teaching
our thoughts cannot penetrate the barrier of that hard surface; and
sometimes the only way we can endeavour to break down that barring
surface is by music of a modern and rather discordant nature. That is
where some modern composers are doing good work."

This is conformation for me of the merit of David's new musical
project. I have had my concerns in the past about the harmful effects
of discordant music. Now I see with a whole new perspective. My
blessings upon the project!

DW: If we live in a world with distortion, then it is wise to use distortion
to convey musical ideas. As Pat inferred, the idea is to get people thinking
multi-dimensionally - and I agree that presenting "acoustic sacred geometry"
in a publicly-accessible musical style is a good way to do that. The song
just works. The lyrics I'm working on will be examining the nature of the
Original Wound and the feelings of abandonment that people go through...
which by its nature will have some dark overtones, but the key I'm working
on now is how to tastefully work in some self-realization on behalf of the
archetypal person doing the singing.

Also, in talking with my mother who's been a performing musician all of her
life, I realized that the song could be more effective if I can keep it to
about 4.5 minutes or less. The amount of vocals will probably be rather
small in order to avoid distracting people from listening to the music,
hence very simple and short verses. Also I've decided that the 5/8 section
(there'll probably only be one in the new version) will not have any vocals
over it, though there may be some in the 3/8 section immediately afterwards.
I'll probably end the song with a big "whack" to help give that "climax"
effect that Erik was looking for...

DW: Well, you're bound to get some negative feedback for some of your
comments, but I ran them through as an example of a thumbs-down vote for the
music, as I did want opinions. I do want you to just keep in mind that I
have not put this material out on the website, and gave very specific
instructions about what type of music it was and from what aspect of myself
it was coming from. I do strongly believe in the importance of first
acknowledging and then accepting your own shadow side...

You didn't get the opportunity to be there when Carla spoke on the same
stage with me in Louisville. She moved people to tears many times - and one
of those times was when she discussed accepting your own "wretchedness."
Another thing that made her move people to tears was... her MUSIC. She sang
beautiful pieces, mostly Christian hymnals, and I can guarantee that it had
an effect on how people chose to hear her words. In fact, I'm waiting for
more inspiration to come through, as she is very excited about my new studio
setup and of the opportunity to perform duet music with me. I'm also going
to upload a file of a totally different style of music that I performed live
at the recent US Psychotronics Association conference I spoke at in Columbus
OH. I definitely, definitely think this had an effect on people choosing to
listen to the rest of the presentation - I had many comments about it
afterwards that were positive.

I think it is REALLY important to remember the quote from Ra on p. 168-69 of
Book One, so please read and study the whole thing, even though it is rather
long. This full quote is not in the Study Guide. If you can "grok" this
quote, then maybe you might see that you sound a little (OK, maybe a lot)
more extreme than Ra's teachings:

"QUESTIONER: Thank you. I have a question here that I will read: "Much of
the mystic tradition of seeking on Earth holds the belief that the
individual self must be erased or obliterated and the material world ignored
for the individual to reach "nirvana," as it is called, or enlightenment.
What is the proper role of the individual self and its worldly activities to
aid an individual to grow more into the Law of One?"

RA: I am Ra. The proper role of the entity is in this density to experience
all things desired, to then analyze, understand, and accept these
experiences, distilling from them the love/light within them. Nothing shall
be overcome. That which is not needed falls away.

The orientation develops due to analysis of desire. These desires become
more and more distorted towards conscious application of love/light as the
entity furnishes itself with distilled experience. We have found it to be
inappropriate in the extreme to encourage the overcoming of any desires,
except to suggest the imagination rather than the carrying out in the
physical plane, as you call it, of those desires not consonant with the Law
of One, thus preserving the primal distortion of free will.

The reason it is unwise to overcome is that overcoming is an unbalanced
action creating difficulties in balancing in the time/space continuum.
Overcoming, thus, creates the further environment for holding on to that
which apparently has been overcome.
All things are acceptable in the proper time for each entity, and in
experiencing, in understanding, in accepting, in then sharing with
other-selves, the appropriate distortion shall be moving away from
distortions of one kind to distortions of another which may be more
consonant with the Law of One.

It is, shall we say, a shortcut to simply ignore or overcome any desire. It
must instead be understood and accepted. This takes patience and experience
which can be analyzed with care, with compassion for self and for
other-self.

QUESTIONER: Basically I would say that to infringe upon the free will of
another entity would be the basic thing never to do under the Law of One.
Can you state any other breaking of the Law of One than this basic rule?

RA: I am Ra. As one proceeds from the primal distortion of free will, one
proceeds to the understanding of the focal points of intelligent energy
which have created the intelligences or the ways of a particular
mind/body/spirit complex in its environment, both what you would call
natural and what you would call man-made. Thus, the distortions to be
avoided are those which do not take into consideration the distortions of
the focus of energy of love/light, or shall we say, the Logos of this
particular sphere or density. These include the lack of understanding of the
needs of the natural environment, the needs of other-selves'
mind/body/spirit complexes. These are many due to the various distortions of
man-made complexes in which the intelligence and awareness of entities
themselves have chosen a way of using the energies available.

Thus, what would be an improper distortion with one entity is proper with
another. We can suggest an attempt to become aware of the other-self as self
and thus do that action which is needed by other-self, understanding from
the other-self's intelligence and awareness. In many cases this does not
involve the breaking of the distortion of free will into a distortion or
fragmentation called infringement. However, it is a delicate matter to be of
service, and compassion, sensitivity, and an ability to empathize are
helpful in avoiding the distortions of man-made intelligence and awareness.

The area or arena called the societal complex is an arena in which there are
no particular needs for care for it is the prerogative/honor/duty of those
in the particular planetary sphere to act according to their free will for
the attempted aid of the social complex.
Thus, you have two simple directives: awareness of the intelligent energy
expressed in nature, awareness of the intelligent energy expressed in self
to be shared when it seems appropriate by the entity with the social
complex, and you have one infinitely subtle and various set of distortions
of which you may be aware; that is, distortions with respect to self and
other-selves not concerning free will but concerning harmonious
relationships and service to others as other-selves would most benefit."
