i didn't know warnings have been given for the last *40* years.

the messages are all the same:

we've chosen false idols, the first of which is money
the world has been poisoned by relentless pursuit of money, possessions, power and position (most are convinced they're doing nothing wrong)
there have been several antichrists
leaders of the world have no compassion for ordinary people
pride and materialism are destroying the world
we're becoming more and more selfish

the messages say we should pray for:
discernment
leaders of the world
protection against evil
strength to endure
deeper faith
protection of angels
enemies of god and man (a test of true faith)
all mankind
priests
all souls to accept jesus christ in their hearts

we're warned that the weight of the world's sins is heavy and protection will be removed. the scales can be tilted back with prayer with a sincere change in the hearts of people.

i'm reminded of a scene in the movie third miracle (1999, ed harris and anne heche). the scene is a flashback of a polish town during world war ii. anne heche's mother, helen o'regan, is a little girl who prays for protection from bombs as they're dropped overhead. the bombs never hit the ground (one of three miracles ed harris investigates).

santa rosa, calif. (ap) - sonoma county musician doug bowes will remember this easter season as the one where he happened upon the easter bunny, and it attacked him.

bowes was walking near his home at about 11 a.m. wednesday when the attack occurred. a small, gray jack rabbit bounded toward him from a nearby fence.

"i thought, 'gosh, this is somebody's pet,' " bowes said. he put his hand down in a friendly gesture and the bunny lunged and bit him.

bowes began to walk home, nursing a sore hand with broken skin, but the rabbit followed him. a short time later, a nearby neighbor had to retreat up a hill after another aggressive jack rabbit forced her back.

bowes had to get rabies shots and faces five additional vaccinations, though area health officials say it would be rare if the animal had rabies.

"if it were (rabid) it would make history," said david yong, director of laboratory services for the county public health division. no rabbithas tested positive for rabies in sonoma county in the past 16 years, yang said.
