hi all.
i would like to know what you think of this video explaining about dimensions
it's in two parts
part 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkxies-6wua
part 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysbaymesb8o

i saw these recently. my impression is that this is a purely logical (left brain) approach to the question of dimensions that are imperceptible to 3-d humans. i can't say that it is wrong, but intuitively it seems inadequate. the basic idea here is that when you collapse the 3-d world into a "point of indeterminate size" that cantains all space within the 3 dimensions, you can then define a separate point outside the point that contains our 3 dimensions. the second point is in a plane shared by our 3-d point, and thus within a 4th dimension. there are infinite points in that 4-d plane, that can be collapsed into a point which in turn shares a 5-d plane with an infinite number of other points which taken together can be collapsed into a point that shares a plane with an infinite number of other points which make up the 6th dimension, and so on out to the 10th dimension, which for some reason that i don't recall at the moment, turns out to be the logical limit for the number of these dimensions.
as i said before, there is a decidedly left brain flavor to this logic, and i do not trust the left brain to grasp the true nature of reality. this might capture the reality at one level, but i suspect that there is different side to this whole problem of multiple dimensions that cannot be explained in 3-d logic at all. i suspect that a healthy dose of intuitive thinking is required to get past 3-d perceptions of the dimensional possibilities. for the most part, it will always be murky and illusive while we remain in this 3-d world.
