Research has suggested that feelings of gratitude may be beneficial to subjective emotional well-being (Emmons & McCullough, 2003). For example, Watkins and colleagues (Watkins et al., 2003) had participants test a number of different gratitude exercises, such as thinking about a living person for whom they were grateful, writing about someone for whom they were grateful, and writing a letter to deliver to someone for whom they were grateful. Participants in the control condition were asked to describe their living room. Participant who engaged in a gratitude exercise showed increases in their experiences of positive emotion immediately after the exercise, and this effect was strongest for participants who were asked to think about a person for whom they were grateful. Participants who had grateful personalities to begin with showed the greatest benefit from these gratitude exercises. In people who are grateful in general, life events have little influence on experienced gratitude (McCullough, Tsang & Emmons, 2004).

Although gratitude is something that anyone can experience, some people seem to feel grateful more often than others. People who tend to experience gratitude more frequently than do others also tend to be happier, more helpful and forgiving, and less depressed than their less grateful counterparts (Kashdan, Uswatte, & Julian, 2006; McCullough, Emmons, & Tsang, 2002; Watkins, Woodward, Stone, & Kolts, 2003)

I was thinking this just prior to start reading your post. I was going to post in the "Human Crisisthread" about the fear of confronting your own shadow by denying it withinyourself, projecting it outside - there are a lot of wellsuited targets, I heard f.i. a report from Kongo first thing in the morning and I can't even put down in words the horrors mentioned there - but changed my mind. I don't want to focus on the horrors but that doesn't mean i'm not aware of them (i've allowed myself to be psychologically and spiritually violated, resulting in a 6 years dark night of the soul)

Today is "Lucia" in Sweden, a mix by a medieval tradition where pple were woken up early in the morning and offered a lot to eat by a woman in strange disgiuse that was meant to chase Lucifer away, and the italian saint Lucia that was burned alive since she helped the christians, persecuted by Rome. She is coming with the joyful message that Christ will be born.

Sun is also shining for the first time in several weeks. I've been struggling with depressed feelings of separatedness for two days, afraid of falling once more into the abyss, but just now the Halleluja choir by Händels Messiah started to sing on the radio [personal astrology observation-you can pm Liliane if interested (sorry Liliane) ]....Now "The presence of the divine" written during the occupation of France by Messian was sung on radio:)

I know i'm very personal and focused on myself and sometimes feel guilty for that, but my purpose is to heal myself so i can be of help to others. I have unresolved jealousy, anger and frustration and i'm constantly observing my feelings and remaining hard parts of my heart.

I'm looking forward to watch this video that came to light up my day.

Well, that's head on DANG!

What he says about political systems not going to change anything if not consciusness being changed and the taboo feeling of leaving the tribe behind, that hit me right in my abdomen...that's the fears i'm facing at the moment often feeling like old friends and relatives are on the consciousnesslevel of small children and all the same many of them seem to be able to love more easily than me...

Not that i've not "been deeply in love" but the first time i really felt pure love was when i took care of my mother after she had a stroke and i hadn't seen her for 25 years cause she didn't want to have contact due to her schizophrenia....

I've been engaged in the peacemovement singing and talking about not being motivaed by fear but joy, but to be true i've mostly managed to avoid the word "love" at least i've found it easier to write lovesongs to Mother Earth...and i didn't have the spiritual perspective at the time....

....and I really really love my dog, no wonder, that's an easy thing to do compared to love a complicated being as myself or you guys out there;)
Suppose i've got a lot of catalysis to do yet...

Reading and talking doesn't necessary lead to experiencing right! So, can the experience of love come through these means? No not necessarily but can it come without it, yes..

Modern psychologists say you can never feel and give love if you didn't experience love in your childhood:( With that i refuse to agree, all the same it's a paradox to how one arrives at feeling love, it's a paradox, it can be given without you having to earn it, but it can also be reached by effort, but what makes you make the effort at the first place?

Creating miracles in your life is no more complicated than understanding the metaphysics of the Universal Law. And because that law is indestructible and therefore infinite, we know that the power used by miracle-makers in the past is still available today. Yet, in our modern society, we're brought up to believe only in those things we can logically understand. We're not taught either that the Universal Law has limitless potential or that this power is at our disposal and can be used to work miracles in our own lives.

Understanding the Universal Law

To understand miracles, we have to look at twon aspects of the Universal Law. First, there liesdeep within all humankind an immense power; and second, the power is impartial and unemotional. Call it the Universal Mind, Christ Consciousness, or what you will, but it is the power that allows human beings a recognition of the universal life force that we call "God."

The life force is eternal and universal, and because of it's limitless capacity, it's a major part of all things. Moreover, it's a major part of each of us. Consequently, we all have within us an UNLIMITED POWER. Creating miracles in our lives becomes a matter of identifying with the power, understanding it's characteristics, and learning to use it effectively. This identification is acheived by knowing that the power is within you and acknowledging that fact by saying, "I am eternal, immortal, universal, and infinite, and what I am is beautiful." In this manner, you lock into the power source and you're poised for the next step, which involves looking at it's characteristics.

The Universal Law is impartial and unemotional. It has no way of knowing what you want, nor does it discriminate between your hopes and aspirations, likes and dislikes- it is pure energy. It accepts whatever thoughts, feelings, and actions you project and reflects them back to you unemotionally in the form of events that you experience day to day.

In much the same way that electricity illuminates both a brothel and the vicar's tea party, the Universal Law doesn't differentiate between different types of energy in your life. It will give you anything you believe in-no more and no less. Therefore the key to understanding miracles is to look at the beliefs you express as thoughts and feelings.

When you're born, your thoughts and feelings are limitless because your mind is a clean slate. What a small child projects to the Universal Law is a natural purity unbounded by the constraints of beliefs. Children often attept the seemingly impossible: Unaware that they have any physical limitations, they drive off in the family car or walk on a high ledge. It's only later, through education, that they learn the confines of human expectancy.

But these confines or boundaries are illusions. They are formed by belief patterns, most of them born of ignorance, handed down from generation to generation. This pool of belief patterns or "collective unconscious," as Carl Jung called it, gains validity as it moves through time, and eventually the concepts that later generations experience as physical reality become rigid and domineering. It's as if billions of people who preceded you have determined what you're going to experience on the earth plane, and that's all there is to it.

This rigidity doesn't allow for genius or for the understanding that we're now in an era of rapid unfoldment. Fundamental structures are being swept away in an avalanche of awareness, and we're no longer prepared just to read about great miracle-makers; we want to have the same experience. For most people,this isn't possible because they're locked within the limitations of body and mind; their upbringing is so dominant that it encases their entire evolution, and they experience little spiritual growth.

Your position on the earth plane as a miracle-maker is inherent in the infinite power that lies within you. That limitless source lies there waiting for you to step up and collect your heritage, and when you do, the pwer will always be with you...

...and that is garunteed. So be it...

This is really an amazing story and video... Living out your dreams----Regardless!!

In a Chinese modern dance competition on TV one very unique couple won one of the top prizes.

The lady, in her 30's, was a dancer who had trained since she was a little girl. Later in life, she lost her entire left arm in an accident and fell into a state of depression for a few years.

Someone then asked her to coach a Children's dancing group. From that point on, she realized that she could not forget dancing. She still loved to dance and wanted to dance again. So, she started to do some of her old routines, but, having lost her arm, she had also lost her balance.

It took a while before she could even make simple turns and spins without falling. Then she heard of a man in his 20's who had lost a leg in an accident. He had also fallen into the usual denial, depression and anger type of emotional roller coaster. But, she was determined to find him and persuade him to dance with her.

He had never danced, and to dance with one leg....are you joking with me? "No way!"

But, she didn't give up, and he reluctantly agreed thinking, "I have nothing else to do anyway." She started to teach him dancing. The two broke up a few times because he had no concept of using muscle, how to control his body, and knew none of the basic things about dancing. When she became frustrated and lost patience with him, he would walk out.

Eventually, they came back together and started training seriously. They hired a choreographer to design routines for them. She would fly high (held by him) with both arms (a sleeve for an arm) flying in the air. He could bend horizontally supported by one leg with her leaning on him, etc.

In the competition, as you will see, they dance beautifully, and they legitimately won the competition.

When I watched this I didn't even realize that she was missing an arm because I was focusing on the guy with only one leg.

I immediately started to cry and that was the most moving things i've ever seen. I really needed to cry a river from all the tension i've been building up lately and it gave me the support to not give up my music no matter what resistance i experience.

And thankyou universe for giving me this at exactly this moment. I woke up early with a pain in my chest went up and drank lots of water but the pain didn't go away and i called a nurse who said i should perhaps call and ambulance....i talked with a guy that said it didn't seem acute...slowly the pain went away...

Lately i stumble upon old aquantancies that have these problems they just pour over me and yesterday on the street i met the man i had a horrible codependencyrelationship with for the first time in two years. We stopped and talked for 5 minutes and i just kep a neutral cheerful attitude but deep inside:(

This couple radiated all love that i've been longing for and could not recieve or give, whether they are able to give that in real life or just through their artistic expression doesn't matter....i know it's out there/in here somewhere...
