hello everyone - this is my 1st post as i am a new member here. in fact, the occurrence that i will be describing is what compelled me to join (in hopes of gaining insight into what happened).
i have been practicing a combination of prayer and meditation over the past 2 weeks after going to bed at night. i'm completely new to all of this, although it certainly feels comfortable and right (dw is a big reason for all of this due to a strong resonance of truth in his work/words). anyway, i decided to start writing my dreams down a few days ago. generally i don't remember dreaming at all, however on occasion it happens and i wanted to be ready.
so the first night having a notepad on my nightstand, i have a pretty long and vivid dream - enough for 2 pages worth of writing. i consider that rare given my short memory of dreams in the morning.
the very next night (and here's the crescendo), i'm doing my usual: i lay down in bed, close my eyes, go through a short prayer (1-2 min), then begin to meditate using the sound of my breathing. after a few minutes, i noticed a slight feeling of pressure on my stomach - a bit of nausea. shortly after (my eyes are closed) i see this strange chaotic mesh of black strings... though they were thicker than strings (think more magic marker than pen). it was very slightly backlit which gave enough contrast to see against a dark charcoal background. near simultaneously, my eyes begin to flutter up and down nearly out of control. it kinda freaked me out, so i opened my eyes and it all seemed to stop. a couple of seconds later, i close my eyes and it all starts again... and it's building. my heart rate started going up. the eye fluttering expanded to include my whole head and torso. so i open my eyes again... and they stop fluttering, but the rest of me is still shaking. so i close my eyes again and they immediately start to flutter... even before i can get my eye lids all the way down.
so i'm laying there half freaked out, half enthralled and curious. in my mind i was asking "hello?... what is this? is somebody there?" in total it probably lasted a couple minutes, although it felt a lot longer. once it stopped, i was so full of energy that i couldn't get back to sleep for a while. so i just kind of laid there wondering... lol what the heck is going on!
i'm really hoping someone has some insight or a similar experience to share. so far, this has only happened once (3 nights ago on friday 8/29). since then, no major dreams or occurrences.
