What is the difference between service to self entities and service to others entities. I know the Ra material says if you have more than 51 percent STO you will be able to graduate to 4th density positive. How would you describe a STS entity? and how would you describe an STO entity?

Ra indicates that the concept of radiance/absorption can be helpful in this regard. STO entities radiate the love and light of the Creator; STS entities absorb the energy of those around them.

Rather than start a new thread, I looked for one that had already been started to make my observations and comment on regarding sts and sto in relationship to Harvest or ascencion.
Yesterday I post some comments on the thread titled Will Something Big Really Happen In 2012. And it was regarding the Harvest of entities into 4th density.
The thought came to me which I am hashing out in my own mind which is sort of a conundrum. The discussion was about the harvest or ascencion into 4th density of those who are at least 51% service to others, or those 51% service to self. In the Law of One, Ra says that it is difficult for those negative sts entities to meet that level of polarity. I qualified my statement by saying those choosing to lean toward sto or sts. The dilema is that if one is not at least 50% sto then that makes them sts and vice versa. So as I was thinking about it this means that everyone who was not exactly 50% one way or the other would ascend either as negative or positive 4th density entities leaving only those 50%ers in 3rd density.. That is why I qualified the statement with the word choice which involves seeking..
Maybe I am being too rational but I don't recall Ra addressing this issue, at least directly. Does anybody have any thoughts on this. I am almost sure that havestability depends on the entities conscious decission to move toward service to other or service to self, but we all keep refering to the 51% level without clarifying what that means.

I kept refering to the 51% level for harvestability for negative STS entities. The figure used by Ra was 95%. I had totally forgotten this point and that is what caused a good portion of my conundrum. Call it a senior moment. That still leaves all of those who are less than 51% positive STO and all of those who are less that 95% negative STS who will repeat the cycle in 3rd density.
This is a clearer concept than what I was conceiving before.

Service to others entities are those that seek toward balance, toward life, happiness, compassion, peace, honour and unity. Those are the things that a service to others entity is constantly aware that it yearns for.
Service to self are those those that seek toward death (primarily), control of others, manipulation, falsity as reality, and supression, and ultimate desolation of all that is loving and joyful within them.

Hi guys,
Here's another interesting way of looking at it. Imagine that service to others is that impulse to embrace Oneness, service to others is when an entity looks at other selves as equal manifestations of infinite creation, he/she sees no one as above or below and takes great care in respecting other selves' unique paths, qualities and of course free will.;)
On the other hand service to self is that impulse to promote seperateness at almost all cost in some cases. The efforts to shield away from loving and compassionate influences are extreemly important and constantly refined in order to reach or maintain harvestability status.
The fact that the possibility exists for the whole of humanity to polarize positively in one moment:) means that even extreemly negative entities have a chance to turn it around in time for the shift, as the positive energies come rushing through the momentum escalates, more and more entities are waking up to the choice in polarity, embracing free will. How exciting is it to be here at this critical nexxus, to have the opportunity to radiate awareness, contributing simply by being.:D .........Sylvain.........

Hmm...positively orientation is all about treating everything (yourself included) with love and respect. It doesn't matter as much as quantity as the quality of your understanding and sharing of this. And knowing how to understand fear and defensiveness, which is a biggie in our time.
I think fear seems to a major factor in limiting the harvest. Overcoming fear for STS is all just about supression and figuring out ways how to combat that fear by putting up greater and greater barriers. Overcoming fear for STO is about acceptance of yourself and instead releasing that stored energy into aiding others, "taking down the walls" so to speak.

Simply put-
One difference between STS and STO is the heart. STS skip right over it, whereas STO lives by opening it. Another is the aspect of balance. STO seek to balance themselves on their path towards service to others while STS are rather "blunt" in having others serve them. STO says WE together are the Creator. STS says I alone am the Creator.

This is a client reading by DW that clearly explains what STO means...

So when we state Service to Others as being the desirable path, that path has greater complexity than simply attending church or appeasing those around you and making them happy.
The Service to Others path is a path of integration of self, and through that integration of self, becoming aware to some degree that there is no separation between self and others.
This is decidedly different than one only looking as far as to see it as being a function of volunteering one’s time in such things as a soup kitchen or otherwise.
Therefore, this path is, in one sense, rather difficult to define, and any attempt to use one concept or one set of words is flawed by its very nature.
The reason why we decided upon the term Service to Others is to hone in on that which approaches the greatest degree of truth as a system of meditation for an awakening soul.
Yet a soul that only thinks of service in the conventional form will not truly grasp what it is that we are teaching.
It may seem that we are wasting words or talking circuitously about this issue, but it is rather important since the Service to Others path is that which is required for an entity to become harvestable.
To summarize these musings as have been heretofore presented, let us state again the overall concept of what Service to Others truly means. From here we will then move forward to a delineation to a greater degree of how the entity then plugs in to such a system.
The true Service to Others path that is required for an entity to become harvestable is an internal decision that is made without the props that are provided by the material world.
An entity that practices service to others and yet does not question anything beyond a given religious structure is not likely to be harvested, because this religious structure, by its very nature, implies that those outside of the structure are not to be served.
In the Christian distortions, an entity that is not “saved by the Blood of the Lamb” is, by its very nature, condemned.
On the overt, outside level, these entities appear to be condemning all others who do not follow their ways.
On the more covert, internal, subconscious level, what these entities are actually doing is separating and isolating those aspects of themselves that they do not find favorable, and by making them the Devil, continuing to reinforce the partitioning and separation of the self.
Therefore, this is a form of war against self. In the vast majority of cases, those who have adhered strictly to a fundamentalist religion do not have the discernment to be able to incorporate the positive path to a significant enough degree in order to be harvestable.
It is required that an entity read its sacred scriptures, but not be bound by the interpretations of human beings to the words.
In order for one to cope effectively with the stressors that the physical world presents, one must have a more fluid perspective, wherein the essence of service is seen as being all-inclusive.
These words have always been hidden in that which came from the Master Jesus and other teachers, as in, “Love thy neighbor as you love yourself.” The neighbor does not have to be Christian for this to be in effect.
The Service to Others path is a path wherein, truly speaking, one does experience all things desired. This means that one has cut off any sense of obligation to a given social structure. [We often point people to page 170 of the Law of One, Book One, in which it states, “The proper role of the entity is, in this density, to experience all things desired – to then analyze, accept and understand these experiences, distilling from them the love/light [love and wisdom] within them… Nothing shall be overcome; that which is not needed falls away… All things are acceptable in the proper time for each entity.”- DW]
Those who are harvestable are not conformists by their very nature. Those who are harvestable are not those who go along with the party line, those who never question the institutions of society.
Those who are harvestable have superseded the need to be identified with a system of beliefs that is specific to one given culture or religion or government.
You will find that those who are ready for fourth density are those who have adopted a unique system of beliefs that is tailor-made to what interests them.
We have stated that an entity on the positive path must experience all things desired, and yet this alone is not sufficient. For once these experiences are sought after, they must then be understood, accepted, integrated and forgiven. Only when this is accomplished is the entity then capable to distill the love and light that can be found inside ones’ experiences.
The extent to which an entity is capable of distilling its experiences through free will is the extent to which an entity has polarized on the positive path.
The negative path is a separate discussion, dealing more with the love of self and the distillation of ones’ experiences in the direction of seeing others as being subservient to self.
Therefore, the entity at this time may be feeling as if the occupational configuration is not truly “service to others enough” to be a fulfillment of one’s spiritual path. Recognize that in one sense this is, as David might say, “old world thinking.”
The implication is quite clear. In order to be on the positive path, one must be capable of doing one’s own thinking. Doing ones own thinking, by a very specific process, involves looking beyond that which society would define as spiritual.
And thus we would ask the entity not to fall into often-seen trap of feeling that one must be doing something that most entities on your plane would define implicitly as “spiritual” in order to be moving in the right direction.

great post Just Be. David's (or should i say Ra's?) reading really clears things up for me, although I think I already understood the complexities of the STS vs STO concept on a subconscious level. i think people go off and read LoO and then start to feel guilty anytime they do something for themselves. this is incorrect.
"The true Service to Others path that is required for an entity to become harvestable is an internal decision that is made without the props that are provided by the material world."
The real difference between the two paths is not apparent in the 3D world. there's no soul up there tallying the number of times you spend $3.00 on a chocolate bar instead of sending $3.00 to charity. it has much more to do with one's internal stance on whether to manipulate people and put them below yourself or to have compassion for everyone you come across, even if you feel tremendous anger towards someone. the lesson is to be aware of the anger, accept it, find the cause, do what you can to mitigate the cause, and move on.
An example comes to mind: my boss at work (a restaurant) is generally a good guy. We get along well. We share interests in conspiracy theory, 2012, etc. He respects me even though he is my superior in the hierarchy of the business. He is very devoted to meditation and talks often of his constant communication with spiritual realms. Yet despite his spirituality, he treats all the mexican employees in the kitchen like lesser human beings. He cusses them behind their backs. He has a total lack of appreciation for how hard they work and how integral they are to the restaurant. One could say their work is more integral than his! But my boss has not seen this perspective.
So that's my idea of a situation where you really can discuss STS vs STO in a person. For myself, I always keep 3 things in mind:
be understanding
be compassionate
don't let your emotions control your actions, be aware of your emotions and read yourself like a book, keep asking "why am i feeling this way?"
Its harder than it sounds:)

That about sums it up JSnell! Great Post!

Might I add that We really DO need to let go of that guilt and fear and whatnot. Stop feeling guilty if youre not always a saint! And PLEASE dont ever try your hardest to be STO because your afraid of what will happen if you wont! Intent cannot be forced, it just IS. You can change your intent, sure. But if it is out of fear, then I dont think the correct motivational factor is in place....
And its true in my opinion.....that all you have to do is have GOOD INTENTIONS. Really? Your intent can be seen by your higher self and guides and the cosmos and whatever else, whether you physically speak it here on this plane or not.
Your thoughts ARE THINGS. And if your thinking negative things all the time and honestly dont WANT to? You'll work it out. :) And youll work it out in your own sweet time. Not out of fear or guilt. But out of genuine love and wisdom. Because the cosomos and your higher self can hear/see/feel your intent, be it negative or positive, there is NO QUESTION really. You are either ready, or you need to take a few more classes.
JUST BE!
And so, in conclusion, I firmly believe that your INTENT molds your polarity (sts, sto). If youre intending to manipulate, use, abuse, profit from someones loss, hate, etc then you might lean a bit toward the STS side. And if your intentions arent to hurt anyone, to love, to radiate joy, make people smile, help others, etc. I think you get where Im going with that.
And its not like you always HAVE to physically DO things like go serve soup at a soup kitchen for the homeless (although that would be a WONDERFUL thing for you to do!). If you just have the heart to spread love around the world then that is enough to be of service to mankind. If you make just one person smile a day even! Then that STARTS as STO, but turns full circle to be of service to YOU. Because you will partake in the joy that YOU put effort into sharing with others.
Love and Light!

Here is my spin on it:
Every being is constantly in Service to the One by the simple fact that all is of the One. Serving ego/self serves the One as it provides catalyst for those that want to evolve out of ego/self by mirroring what we are not.
There is a gradual continuum here also, and not "one versus the other". Imagine a Scale of Consciousness (http://consciousnessproject.org/page.asp?PageID=14) from 1 to 1000. Everything in the human sphere of experience and potential is included on that scale. Below 200 on that scale is predominantly what is referred to as StS. However, there is a gradual transition all the way (both up and down the scale). A person below 200 is not totally StS polarized.
Let's say that the level 40 corresponds to the 95% limit of "negative StS polarization". Let's also say the level 330 corresponds to the 51% limit of "positive StO polarization". In between these two limits there is the "luke warm" range which corresponds to the levels 41 - 329 on the Scale. This is according to my own research.
It helps to understand that there is only one variable along the scale. Just like only Light has substance and darkness is the lack of Light, StS is not "opposed to" StO as such. Everyone is a "light bulb", but the amount of Light emitted varies along the scale from almost total darkness in the bottom stratum (below 40) to massive floodlight in the top of the scale (above 540).
Service to others flows naturally from the excess of energy/Love and increases the higher one climbs on the scale. Being dedicated to spiritual growth up the scale is all the StO one needs. Doing "good deeds" is not bad, but it will not necessarily move you up the scale. It's more about internal attitude than external "doing". What do you radiate with the totality of your Being? How do you think of others in daily life. Is there a lot of judgement or do you accept others as they are? etc. Is there harmony in your relationships with those around you? The world is a mirror and life is always trying to tell us something. Do you remember to be grateful for this great opportunity to correct yourself and work upon yourself? That is StO in my opinion. Running around "helping people" (like so many "religious" people do) is running away from the formost responsability which is to cleanse oneself from StS tendencies (unless you aim for a negative harvest of course;)).
In Love and Gratitude,
Sanat
