Try this for 1 week and tell me if you aren't happier:
Instead of listening to the radio, thinking about work, getting mad at traffic, and killing time do this.

As you drive in try (as much as possible given our morning minds) to say: "I love you" to every car and person you see.

If there are too many cars just send that feeling in a wide direction (from your heart) and chant the words (outloud or in your mind).

One very hepful aspect of this is it creates contrast in your mind, as you try to express love for your fellow commuter often another part of your mind will be swearing at them for what they just did. Through the consistant application of will you and dramatically reduce these negative thoughts and their unpleasant effects.

I did this for a few months and I found it had an effect on both myself and the cars around me, people let me go, were less aggressive, and eventually I found myself laughing with pure joy during my hour long commute. It's like a childs joy, unhindered by adult cynicism.

If this message found you good reader, perhaps it's a signal you should try it

Normally my comute is through farmland, and there isn't a lot of traffic, but today I had to pop in to town on the way home so there was a ton of traffic, all in a hurry. I tried saying I love you to all the cars. It definitely put me in a better mood, and I was giggling by the time I got home.

I was imagining them hearing me say I love you while they were probably saying "STEP ON IT" and visualized the surprise on their faces.

It was fun.

Glad to hear someone gave it a shot and it worked.

If you do it for a few weeks you'll be giggling all the time, also try it with lower density things like plants / pets / and rocks.

Anyone else willing to give it a try? :)

I do something similar to that a lot, actually. Usually, I adapt an old song called "Trigger Hippie" that goes "Love, Love, Love, I'm a trigger hippy" and change it to "Love, Love, Love...I love everybody"

And when someone cuts me off in traffic, I think to myself that it's worse for him/her to be a jerk than it is being cut off, and just love them.

I do, however, make sure to tune into the higher self of the people in traffic because just sending people's ego personality love from your heart is an easy way to get psychically dumped on.

What a lovely post... Yes this is a great idea, i think. i have done it before. i drive around for hours for several days of the week. I actually drive around pretending i am in the New Earth (and of course, sending little "I love yous" to the people around you is a part of that).

Thanks for sharing the idea. Imagine... if more people did this... rush hour could become one of the most powerful times on the planet!

peace and love

When I get really p***** off by someone in the traffic I often react with anger, but then I ask the universe for forgivness and laugh at myself. Next time I just try to stay neutral and often I let the cars keep their speed instead of stopping that they are required to and cross the street after they passed. I always say thankyou when someone stops and I try to be calm when I'm driving myself...but to send unconditional love in every situation...no, that's not my cup of tea;)
