i've been considering another holy trinity:
womb, egg, and sperm. each separately is
often considered insignificant. the moment
of conception, the harmony rings out and
things get interesting.
each element is alive before, and each alive after,
so life is continuous. the egg and sperm combine to
form zygote. the zygote grows and changes, as long as
it is alive, and it is also dependant upon the womb.
if you consider the formation of the
zygote an irreversible covenant between egg and sperm,
then the womb acts as the vehicle for the zygote to
travel within. this vehicle could be considered
an ark. thus, the womb could be interpreted as
"an ark of a covenant."
considering the continuity of life through this
process, you could argue that life is not stopping,
but gains renewel through this process. in this
model, we are but baton passers of life in this act.
immortality could be considered continuous life, but
isn't continuous life what is happening here?
this relates to the "ankh" symbol, often referred to
symbolize immortality, and also described as having
components representing a vulva above combined with
a phallus below.
